  2. take american kenpo, incorporate dim mak, some ninjutsu for and then some aikido to give you a better edge when grappling.
  3. i already know there's a thread for karate vs. boxing, but i wanna know how a boxer would fair against a black belt in the ed parker system. one of the first things we learned in kenpo was boxing. we had the same punches and hand positions but different stances. kenpo itself has wide arsenal and many options for defending and attacking, and both combat systems are equally intense(i'm referring to the intensity of the art itself, not that of the individual fighter).
  4. i'm currently studying the ed parker system of kenpo. is there anyone else here that studies this or any other systems of kenpo?
  5. a great fighter is someone who can adapt to any situation. he trains hard to gain skill and conditioning and is willing to bend the rules of your art to sometimes gain the upperhand. a great fighter is prepared for any situation and never puts down his gaurd. they must also learn fight on the mental level. he is always mentally prepared and will never use his art to hurt those weaker than he is. he is niether arrogant or humble. a great fighter will always remain unpredictable and always fights to the best of his ability. a great fighter will always strive to become stronger.
  6. i'm a kenpo student and i'm currently holding the rank of yellow. i have been training since summer and will be and advanced yellow belt in 2 weeks. we've learned all the basic moves and so on. basically, i wanna increase my reaction. i can move fast but i would like to block and weave faster. i find that when your fighting someone, they can sometimes move faster then your body can adapt and react. can anyone recommend any exericises to help me out?
  7. avoid the attack, get close to him in the diaphragm with an uppercut. swirve to his right immediately afterward and snap the elbow. then elbow him in the face and finish it by clawing the face with your right hand, thrusting forward, and then slamming his head into the ground. if timed accurately and if you move fast enough, it will be done and over in less than 10 seconds.
