  1. first protect your neck, then address the hooks. eventually just spin around into his guard.
  2. well, if you hit someone really really hard you can break their jaw or whatever... and i guess sometimes you can kill them via brain hemmorage or that type of stuff. doesnt happen a whole lot though.
  3. eventually you learn to punch, essentially, perfectly. after that, combat skills can be improved, but you punch like youre supposed to, and thats the end of it. uh, did i explain that right?
  4. the romans? what? okay, my other post here was funny- no one can dispute that. but the romans? thats just lame.
  5. actually gumbi- i know more than a few fighters who run A LOT and theyve built up such an endurance that they win fights, among other things, largely because of it. if the other guys gassing and youre not, you have a serious advantage. running is good! (especially up hill for that explosive typa stamina.)
  6. okay- let me just ask directly... in tournaments like the one in that video posted earlier, are the guys hitting full force or do they pull their punches and kicks?
  7. katas originated in china when the opium trade started getting really heavy. this grandmaster of whatever kungfu style it was, was really high and hallucinated that he was fighting people who werent there, and all his students were watching him and thought they had finally discovered his secret at being so good a fighter. when confronted with this, the grandmaster was so embarassed he just went along with what they thought they had discovered, and martial artists have been doing katas ever since.
  8. 9-10 is okay, even to be expected if youve busted your * a lot that day.
  9. im not sure if the acrobatics youre mentioning is what im imagining or not... but if it is, that is, if it looks anything like jackie chans movies, that has nothing to do with reality. yea, you wanna stay moving, and yea, if you can pick up a pipe or pot or osmething and hit someone with it more power to you, but jumping around and in and out of a ladder or a window or something just doesnt work out. ive heard of martial arts schools adding thigns like backflips to the curriculum- do them if you like, theyre kinda cool, but they have nothing to do with fighting.
