  1. I can see where you are going with this; an isshin ryu crane stance has your front foot facing three o'clock, and your back foot on the pad and toes of your foot. Both feet are on the ground. Most of your weight is on your front foot. Most styles have one foot off the ground, but not isshin ryu. This is probably because Tatsou Shimabuku wanted a "strong" style, and having one foot up in the air doesn't look strong.
  2. "Knees to the head. Tried , tested and true." ok. lets say you have someones head in your hands and you slam it as hard as you can against your knee. your knee is made up of two bones and a kneecap. the chances of you breaking/shattering your knee cap are great if you try this. why even bother? forty five degree blade kick to the knee.
  3. "and try throwing a knife" throwing a knife is hard, and unless you practice two hours a day with them, your chances of hitting a person is slim.
  4. Never just "take hits “from an untrained fighter. If they build confidence, they will think they own you in the ring. Always score the first point in point fighting. If you hit the person, truly hit them on the first point, they will not go in on you. We have uncontrolled fighters at our school. They are very nice people, just have no control. A lot of times guys think they need to show dominance, so they hit very hard, or have wild techniques. If you fight with these people, it will not make you a better fighter. I only fight people with good skill; it makes you a champion.
  5. at my dojo, that also offers kickboxing, i would say 40% is men, and 60% women.
  6. sorry i'm a bit of the subject; when i have a question, i ask.
  7. Definately.
  8. I agree. I recently heard of a dojo that was sued because a kid was abducted. The kid was only five or six. Do you know any bunki for crane stance? My instructor wants me to figure it out for our kata. I know there is something to do with energy transfers, but other than that, I’m lost. Internet sites rarely have any true information on them that would actually work. I compete in tournaments, and some people have kata with flying kicks and cartwheels. This is a karate travesty! Any ideas?
  9. i ment ground grappling. all of the kids were ages 7-9, and i don't think any of them could get away in a real life situation. i didn't let go untill they made me, but one boy was fighting for over 15 minutes on the ground. by that time, that boy would be abducted or something. do you think it is likely that the adverage kid could get away from an attacker? nerve strikes would help, but it that's all you have, i think you are in a tough situation. __________________________________________ make'm cry or get disqualified!
  10. recently, my sensei asked us to find out what crance stance has to do with body energy. i know that it has something to do with crossing your legs. any ideas? ____________________________________________________________ make'm cry or get disqualified!
  11. on friday, i helped out with a belt testing. all of the kids i had for self defence (4) were leaning, so i took them on the ground. my sensei says almost 95% of all fights end up on the ground. however, i study isshin ryu, and we do no grappling. what do you think he is trying to tell me? __________________________________________ make'm cry or get disqualified!

    Balance

if you are having trouble with balance, just practice. practice round house kicks with a partner. hold hands, and kick each other in the stomach, using the other person for support. start with one, and work your way to twenty, then back down. this helps you on balance, and them on conditioning. __________________________________________ make'm cry or get disqualified!

  14. if you aren't willing to risk your life for your "friends" the best you can do is call 911. the attackers may have had a knife or even a gun. however, if its family, its ON. __________________________________________ make'm cry or get disqualified!

  17. I belong to the PKC in Indiana, and point fighting is fun. However, the judges are horrible. Last tour., I got a center judge who is blind in one eye. I don't really like kata and weapons in tour., but fighting in tour. gives you a chance to fight people outside your dojo, which is always fun. ____________________________________________________________ make'm cry or get disqualified.

  20. a blood choke can cause a person to pass out in the first 1-3 minutes. after that, it is possible that you are inflicting perminate damage. _____________________________________________________________ make'm cry or get disqualified.
