Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. Family Guy is great. One of the very few things I watch on tv. Btw, the makers have a new cartoon out called "American Dad" now on Fox. Pretty funny. Stereotypical CIA agent as a dad, nerd for a son, a liberal daughter, a goldfish with a brain that was swapped with a German Olympic skier, and a metrosexual alien. The pilot was funny, and the first episode was on Monday. I missed the first ep, but the pilot was great.
  2. I just started a heavy-wieght low-rep lifting routine with my backpack and a bunch of big books because I wanted to improve my strength more then anything else. (I'm going to save up and get a bb soon, but untill the bag should be fine ) Then, I was going to work on my muscular endurance after a month or so of that. But then I started thinking. Is there any reason I couldn't build them up evenly by picking a wieght I can only do for about 3 reps and just keep doing it untill I get to 12. Also, as the reps picked up, so would the pace, etc. Then I'd find whatever wieght I can only do for 3 reps, and build it up the same way. I'm not worried about losing/gaining any wieght, and I'd be eating a lot to handle both wieght lifting and mma training that I'm trying to start soon anyway. (Working out a way to get transportation.) So don't think I'm trying to bulk and cut at the same time. I know you can't really do that. Thanks for the help.
  3. I'd like to be trained by Teddy Atlas, Bas Rutten, Remy Bonjasky, and Royce Gracie.
  4. the dizziness can't be helped. when you take a hard shot to the head, the brain gets knocked against the walls of the skull. this is what causes your head to spin and also what causes KOs. as for the neck strengthening, you don't have to have weight - lay on your back - keep your head and neck off of the floor. lift your head up and down for 30 reps - do not let your head touch the floor. Then, look left and return to the starting position for 30 reps. then look right for 30. your head shouldn't touch the floor until all 90 reps are done. as you progress, add reps. Also, if you have a partner, clinch and do neck wrestling drills. Cool stuff. I need to start strengthening my neck. (It's thick but week) On a Silva training highlight video, I saw him doing the same thing but from his stomache. Would it be good to do it both ways?
  5. That was absolutely amazing. The second fight, Bonnar vs. Forrest, had to be one of the best displays of heart and athleticism I've seen. 50 years from now, there is a good chance they'll look back on this as the day that mma hit the mainstream. I bet it ends up on espn before the year is over.
  6. Thanks, sevenstar. How do you know what your wieght class should be?
  7. Don't get too carried away with body type doesn't matter. It does. It just shouldn't be the deciding factor. In general, height helps strikers a lot because of reach, but they don't need to be overly bulky. Grapplers are constantly pushing an pulling while they role, so muscle helps a lot more. Still, as said, don't get carried away with it. Royce Gracie wasn't exactly bulky, and many good boxers aren't exactly tall.
  8. Is lifting for endurance (12 to 15 reps) better for bulking or cutting? I know that 8 reps is what builds the most muscle, but I've also heard that lifting for endurance builds some lean mass. Also, how does a pro fighter at the lower level, who has to fight every couple months to keep up anyway find time to bulk when they have to work so hard on their cardiovascular conditioning for the fight? Thanks.
  9. If you have strong abs with good endurance, does it realy matter if they're visible? I've been wondering that for a while.
  10. Heheh. I'm not doing that, and I had to work on it a bit to get the form right. It just feels a lot more natural then the others. And a lot more natural the a wild "uppercut." Thanks for the replies,
  11. Hey. Am I the only one who thinks uppercuts feel more natural then hooks and crosses? I'd always heard people say the opposite.
  12. Is it okay to do pushups while your triceps are still sore from wieght lifting? I know triceps get worked out while doing pushups, so I want to make sure it's okay to do pushups while they're sore from wieght lifting.
  13. Thanks for telling me that. I tried it some, and you're right. I'm not going off balance any more.
  14. Are there any documentaries on muay thai training over in Thailand? I'm wanting something related to mt training to watch. Thanks.
  15. I accidently switch by falling off balance from throwing a straight right cross all the time while shadow boxing. Of course, I haven't gotten to the muaythai/boxing gym near me yet, so my form is awful.
