  1. its good to know that what im doing is safe... tnx fish . sometimes i go swimming but all i can do is one lap (25 meters) and then i rest until my heart rate is stable then do another lap and so on... will this contribute to my cardiovascular endurance? and when i talked to my sensai bout cardiovascular endurance (stamina) he said i should run 30 minutes a day. is this right? isn't running a high intensity cardiovascular workout? and aren't you supposed to rest at least one day in between... tnx in advance to those who can contribute some information on this matter
  2. i wouldd like to comment on what someone said. "whatever is open kick it" i think this is not an appropriate mindset because if you square off with a skilled fighter he might intentionally leave an open target and if you bite his bait... splat! bam! boom! lights out...
  3. tnx fish. Is it okay if I ride the exercycle on mondays, jump rope on wednessdays, and swim on fridays? note: only one day rest between each workout. is this safe?

  6. hey noob i'm just new here but i read your message. you said your problem was multiple attackers right? i suggest you get some aikido. it focuses alot on multiple and even armed attackers.
  7. can anyone please explain the colored belts under your names that appears on the screen? i'm just new to this site and i want to find out why others have a blue belt, brown, white etc. does it have any connection to your rank in the arts you practice?
  8. Usually when I did it a lot during my boxing days, it was more of circuit training. It would help your cardio some, but more oriented toward activating the body for lactic acid work (anaerobic) and quick recovery. To specifically target aerobics, we would run. That's how we did it, anyway. -Shorin ryuu shorin ryuu can you please expound on CIRCUIT TRAINING & ANAEROBIC. thanx
  9. will doing cardio every day kill you? well i mean is it not good for your health. i have read somewhere that you should give each cardio workout 3 days before doing another one. but another one said if you stop doing your "workout" (i'm not sure if it was pertaining to cardio or another kind of excercise) for more than one day you might fall back from the level of fittness you are in. which of these 2 are true? and if anyone has any statistics to back it up i would really appreciate it. thanx
  10. rich does jumping rope improve my cardiovascular endurance?
  11. Is jumping rope considered a cardio workout? How many times do I have to do cardio in a week? what benefits can you get from cardio workouts?
  12. i used to do only ten push ups because i can't handle anymore. but now i can do twenty on my knuckles. all i can say to those who cannot do anymore than ten, just keep on going... you can do a lot more in no time. and also i found out that knuckle push ups callous your fists this would be hitting 2 birds with one stone if your trying to get your knuckles calloused painlessly.
  13. thanks alot for your advice rich. but i just want to get your opinion on this. a fellow martial artist told me that after a strenous activity and you sweat. your pores open up and if you take a bath the cold might get in and you might get muscle spasms. what can you say about this statement? is it logical?
  14. hey... is there anyone who has any idea regarding taking baths after a strenous excercise or practice session? I am just new in the martial arts and when I ask other practitioners they have different oppinions on the topic. some say you should take a bath right after the activity and others say to rest for a few minutes or even a few hours before taking a bath. I don't know which one is correct and if there is any scientific explanation for wether taking a bath right after or resting first before taking a bath after a strenous excercise or practice session.
