  1. Im not saying he would kill Bruce, Im saying, Parkers black belts gave him a run for his money on a regular basis. Lee was an amazing fighter, im not trying to take anything away from him, Im just saying, Parker did beat him, parkers guys did beat him, and im sure Lee put a fair beat down on them as well. Where did you get this info? Please read my above posts. It has the answer to your questions.

  3. I promise you, im not kidding: http://home.coqui.net/jlromang/brustor2.htm http://www.usadojo.com/bioedparker.htm "This is not to berate Bruce. It is to point out that he wasn't some "mystical" know all see all god. He did have help. Bruce had about 88-90% to do with the shape of JKD, with James Yimm Lee, Dan Inosanto Wally Jay, Ed Parker, Jhoon Rhee and a few minor others taking the rest of the percentage (James, Dan, and Wally take the greatest percentage in that order, with the rest in descending order and very little percentage.)" - excerpt from http://www.wingchun.com/JKD.html If you read "The Journey" it has tons of interesting facts about Lee / Parker. http://ltatum.com/ (Scroll down to the bottom)
  4. Mr. Edmund Kealoha Parker Senior, father of American Kenpo. Huge hero of mine. (His black belts used to beat on Bruce Lee all day long.) Don't believe everything u read In fact, Mr. Parker was the one that introduced Mr. Lee to hollywood, and started his film career (Green Hornet). Mr. Lee would seek the advice of Mr. Parker frequently. He also taught the Gracie's. You want to find a badass, find the one that trained the badasses
  5. Wow! Im glad this post turned in to such a knowledge share God bless the internet. Unless you work in the industry, and then god d**n the internet
  6. Thanks a ton to both of you, your insight is HIGHLY appreciated.
  7. 1st kenpo technnique you learn is called delayed sword. Its from a lapel grab. Its a 3 beat sequence, step back with the side he has grabbed you on to throw him off balance and put his free hand (which he will most likely attack you with) as far away from you as possible. Strike the arm that has grabbed you to knock it off, execute a front snap kick to the groin, and sword hand to the neck / clavical area. Very simple, very effective if pulled off correctly. Devastating too. Now as far as jumping up and kicking someone with both legs and ripping your shirt off..... Seems more like a saturday night live sketch to me
  8. I will try as you suggested. Invaluable info. Thanks again!
  9. I got 5 swords last night, and I know it will take some time, to get down pat, but the last foot movement in the technique is killing me. It feels all wrong. right after the uppercut (or uppersword hand, depending how you learn it) there is a shuffle that guides you to the next block/chop sequence. That shuffle si throwing me off, Im always to far away with it, or too close, it doesnt "feel" right. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  10. There is escrima and knife fighting, and bo work as well. It isnt taught generallt until later belts. I hope you find some kenpo around there!
  11. I caught an elbow to the mastoid process once, and it cleaned me up nice and tidy like. Alarms went off for sure
  12. Good for you! Keep it up, and good luck in school!
  13. It was given the moniker "Karate" so people would have a basic idea that Kenpo was a fighting art. In truth it isnt Karate at all. Its a hybrid fighting art based on scientific principles, specifically the study of motion. Its incredibly brutal and effective in real world scenarios. Blinding hand speed, locks, joint manipulation, grappling, throws, etc are all common to Kenpo. I took "Karate" for 6 months, and this is not Karate.
  14. You may be interested in taking kenpo. Its just about right up your alley. Scientific, controlled, and very dangerous. A thinking mans fighting art.
