  1. Yeah be careful, you might lower than you want to.
  2. You missed what I was saying, or I just didn't make it clear. I was going on pervoius experiance. And seeing what i saw in the oylmpics, just makes me wonder about tkd fighters. Like I said before maybe I haven't fought any polished tkd fighters, but baised on those who I have fought it makes me wonder.
  3. You wouldn't believe the how close our styles are. For instance, your kata number 1 footwork is the same for all of our weapons katas. Pretty funny when you think about it.
  4. Here where I was going with this: seeing a tkd fighter in the oylmpics with his hands down leads me to think that, if he or she gets put in the ring at a full-contact tourny, a good fighter will be able to pick a dozen differant spots to attack. Every single tkd fighter that i have met in the ring has either a) tenses up and can't move or b) keeps kicking and gets side-stepped with a foot to the face. Now maybe I haven't met a polished tkd fighter, but i am just going off of experance. And for markusan, ever been to a World Oyama dojo? Probably not. At my the dojo we have kids ages 5 to 10 fighting in semi-knockdowns. There mums and dads have no problem sending them to our dojo.
  5. This is comming from my brother-in-law that is a Personal Tranner that is looking over my sholder whist I type: Start with one of thoses big rubber balls that you use for abs. Do crunches and have some one pound the ball into your gut. If you jump right into medicine ball tranning you could really screw up some internal stuff if your abs aren't tough yet. In a nutshell, work up to the medicine balls. I did (I meaning supacoopatroopa) and then went on to medicine balls and i am very happy with the results.
  6. I was at the old headquarter dojo in New York and Saiko Shihan and Soshu Oyama both said it was off. The website just needs to be updated, or like that part of the server needs work, some techno talk i don't understand.
  7. I think that a full-contact type of fight would be the ticket, becasue I feel that it would be a better repersentation of a real fight, not just trying to score a point. I really don't see very much movement in tkd and there hands are at there sides. Would have to say if the gold medalist in any weight class in tkd would go to a full-contact tourny, he would probably be his clock cleaned.
  8. Becasue the olympics are going on, I want to ask a question; should full-contact karate be an oylmpic sport. Should it be in the knockdown format or should it use a point system similar to TKD. I think that it should be a semi-knockdown event with cloth shin and instep pads and cloth hand pads and dipped-foam headgear and mouthgaurds as the protection. What say you?
  9. In World Oyama you have to fight 15 2 min rounds with a fresh person every round. It sucks....but worth it.
  10. Hey, I know this isn't in NJ but if you want to make the trip there is a knockdown event in Baltimore called the Battle of Baltimore. I believe it is Oct. 20th 2004.
  11. I train with Sensei Bob McWhirt in Lusby, MD. He was a student under Sensei Tom DiGiacomo before he moved to Saudi Arabia. I was just promoted to Green Belt.
  12. yeah uh...they stopped the online tranning...yeah Saiko Shihan Oyama decided that it was bad for the image of the orgainzation, so that ended last month.
  13. The worst pain I ever felt was when me and my tranning partner where sparring and I didn't lead with my first two knukles and i got a boxers facture. Just like that, i was out for a month.
  14. If you bounce around you will get winded and an experanced fighter will just come in and put you out. I would say if you see an opening, attack. If not counter the on comming attack and then go in. I have just seen too many people who bounce around, then get winded and then get taken to the cleaners.
