I would go with the bo/staff, With the bo/staff you can learn to do a figure eight (a basic technique) which you can later apply with other weapons.
I strongly recomend that you find a teacher to help you out.
-
One of my favorite weapons! Eric Lee/Balck Belt magazine has a good vid/dvd on the three sectional staff, it's a good place to start ''if'' you can't find an a teacher to help you out.
-
Ni seiken tsuki (two middle punches), torate tsuki (tiger hand thrust), mikazuki geri (crescent kick), fomi komi geri (stamp kick) gedan barai (low block).

The same evening that we test!
The test day is like any other day, I let our Sensei know that I am ready for the test and if another blk belt is there and the Sensei feels that I am ready will test me and or other students.
My Sensei is the sytle head of our style, so it makes it much more easy to test and get the results back that night.

Our Sensei tells us at the end of the classes. Hope it goes well with you?

Find a good dojo, sensei, style you like and train, train, train as offen as you can. And have fun too!

Well for me it's the style I prefer to use (Leopard style) and the techniques that come with it. Double leopard thrusting punch, leopard pawing at the butterfly, back fist punhing at the meteor, upward thrusting leopard punch, lying leopard stretch. All of these forms use low/mid kicks, elbows, knees, leopard paw, leopard punch, leopard fist, leopard claws. A very fast style with multiple hits, kicks, punches, rakes to the face, side of the head and eyes. I'm 6'. 150 lbs, so this style works good for me where I have the speed and flexibility for fast attacks.

Mmmmmmmmmm, got into Judo at the YMCA when I was a kid, my parents thought it would be good for me (they were right)! Took Isshin-Ryu with one of my sisters, she later got into Shotokan (still is). Then I went and took White Lotus Gung Fu from Sifu Douglas Wong from a friends recommendation. Moved, started and still taking Shorei-Ryu.

Yeah about every morning when I wake up and look in the mirror and see what my hair looks like.............Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Good call!

I'd be wore worried about the grim and grease coming offf the chain myself...
No, but are far better flexible weapons. Rope dart, 9 section chain whip, 7 section chain whip. 3 section chain whip. meteor hammer, 3 section plum flower chain whip, nunchaku, 3 section staff, even a belt off you pants. And they don't leave oil marks all over the place too!

The guy looked like he was in pain non-stop after that kick and I'm sure he was. Not a great way to have your leg taken out. Ouch!
-
No problem at all. Yes with kick it is and can a very deceptive and powerful kick!
-
Reverse crescent kick
-
Man, must have been one hard kick?
-
For the mikazuki geri (crescent kick) I chamber. Now here's a trick question, what about a gyaku mikazuki geri?
-
I'd go with a sune uke (shin block)!
-
I knew that llamas would spit. I would like to see that, then you could knock it out, like Conan did to the camel!
Don't spit on me Llama or I'll knock you out like I did that Camel and I'll be back!

Sorry to hear about your dog, it's harsh when you lose a pet, but way to go adopting a dog, that's awesome!

Cool site, thanks. I prefer wax wood or rattan, they seem to be more splinter resistant to me!
-
Wing Lam Kung Fu has some nice staffs, in wax woood, oak wood, rattan, tapered, straight, single taper, and in double taper. https://www.WLE.com

Have you thought about learning the bo at a different dojo? There are many bo kata's, hand grips, flips, etc. I would look for a teacher who could help you out in person and who might even be able to help you learn the jo, kai, and cane.
