  9. Thanks, it has been about 25 years. Maybe someone will know of him.
  10. I know it is a long shot. I am trying to locate a old friend named Young Moon Lee. He is in his late 30's, involved in TKD, and lived in California. I thought with all the people here that take TKD, someone might know him. Thanks, Mike
  11. I understand what you are saying. I think the fact that you can't punch to the head allows people to keep their hands low. Unfortunatly, it doesn't look good and isn't very practical for street fighting. The better schools teach to cross over. I took boxing before taekwondo and learned to keep my hands high and to throw combinations. I hope that TKD becomes a bigger part in the olympics. Here in the NW, it was only on at 2AM and never talked about on the news.
  12. I didn't get to see it. What countries took home what? Thanks
  13. I always liked Hee Il Cho. You can find them at walmart.com.
  14. SOme let you keep your rank and others want you to start over, most likley a money thing. I think the best way is to let the student take a few classes and then decide. I have even seen where people don't wear a belt for a week. I do think you should always retain your black belt unless you just don't train and forgot everything.
  15. I heard Kazza is good and https://www.bilang.com has videos of trick kicks and other crazy stuff.
  16. Did they have to bring in another instructor for the testing? Sometimes you might have to pay towards that. Some schools have lower monthly rates and higher testing fees. If you like your instructor and school, ask if he will cut you a break when nobody else is around. I'm sure they would work something out for you. I paid alot for my test, but didn't mind because I got many free months when I was in college.
  17. what part of seattle do you live in?

  20. Just curious how old people are here.
  21. I have never heard that, Funny, because most Koreans are not known for being tall and Shotokan and TKD are both very similar styles due to Japanese occupation of Korea at one time. I would say make the most of what you have. If you have long limbs, you have good reach, if you have short limbs stay close and develop speed.
  22. Hi, I have been considering opening a school in the NW. I have looked at locations, found insurance providers, and retail wholesalers. I was wondering if anyone would like to share what worked for them? I would like to hear about locations, such as retail strip mall verus more affordable industrial type buildings. What works when advertising. What to expect the first, third, and six months? What hours do you keep when you first open? Thanks in advance,
  23. Anyone live in WA state? I study TKD and I am considering opening a school. Would like to know if anyone is interested in training or opening a karate school..
