Hakamas were widely used up until the past 80 -90 years. Until we re-wrote their constutuition making Japan more like the Americas.
-
Don't worry EnvE I have "re-posted" before, we do that quite a bit here.

Wow, i never heard of that happening, I hope my mom doesn't hear about it, she is really scared about my cousin because he's in the marines. -
thanks for the info!

Does anyone wear hakama pants when they practice kara-te? I use them sometimes to feel more authentic. Many people in Nippon use hakama pants when they practice their kara-te. Do you wear anything else other then a standard karate gi at all?

Nunchaku traditional cord vs the chain
Phantasmatic replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
I have tried with both and I have come to the conclusion that the chains are far better. So what if they aren't "traditional" nunchaku, they are better weapons. My cord pair broke when i was running a kata at a tournament. Surprisingly I still recieved first place though!! The only drawback of the chain is that it is a little noisy and creaks quite a bit, but nothing a little WD-40 can't change!! -
I am a little afraid of dying, if someone were to try and kill me I would fight to my best ability to not die. I would be afraid to die if I knew for a fact i'd be going to hell.

Holy Geez, that would really hurt!!!!! -
I have read about 50 pages of that book before I misplaced it. Kata is a very important part of karate. If there was a person that practiced kicks and punches all day vs. someone that practiced kicks, punches, and kata all day, I grant you that the person that practices kata would easily win, IMHO. Of course that depends on the heart of the practicioner.

Well, not all are taught by one person. most classes are 1 hour long, but some are 30 min and some are 90 min. All the advanced classes are 90 min. and the little kids classes are 30 min. Most are taught by my sensei but some are taught by sensei's to be! Mostly those classes are the little kids classes.

My 1st Martial Art Movie
Phantasmatic replied to Phantasmatic's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
hmmm... Maybe. If you are serious, I must tell you that we arent going to film it for a long time, probably 5 to 6 months! But if you want to be in the movie I guess you could!!! Maybe you could be the evil stepsister person that kicks the crap out of my friends!!! We still need to build the dojo and make the rest of the script! The dojo is going to look like an old style Japanese dojo and we are all going to get new Gis and were going to start getting in tip top shape. In not that far out of shape but I need to lose some pudginess around the tummy-tum! I want to get my vertical jump up to 30 in. so my kicks wil look fantastic. I'm going to call the local movie theater and see if they can put it on one of those reel things and I can rent it out and watch the final copy on a movie screen, now how sweet is that!!! We are debating whether to buy a brand new high-definition professional camcorder to film it with. It costs $1,500.00 so I don't know if that is going to come a reality. -
At our dojo we charge $75 a month with 25 classes a week.
