  1. Hey guys, and gals. Check out this cool little Ninja Movie teaser in Flash: http://www.ninjai.com/home.html Cheers!
  2. Do you ever use "KI" power? Or have you ever even heard about it? The ancient chinese discovered this incredible power that humans are able to master. The power comes from YOUR own life force, and it is your own life force, in other words it's your soul that interacts with your surrondings. It is believed that all of your life force comes from a spot a couple of centimetres below your navel/belly button. Without it we wouldn't even be able to lift a finger, and it is believed that when you die your soul leaves through a small hole in your backbone. Anyway it is used in martial arts. I have tried it a couple of times, and I know a couple of techniques. You need to concentrate yourself on what you are doing, breathing techiques are also invovled in it. Your physical strength has no importance. You can learn to master "KI" power when meditating. I don't meditate much, so I am limited to very simple techniques. You don't have to explore your inner self to master it, not at all. Some people have used it spontainiously. As an example, it has been documented that a mother's strength grew by ten times in a few seconds. Here child was trapped beneath a car, and she lifted it all by her self. This was an average, everyday woman! Iv'e listed some things that "KI" can enable you to do: - Be stronger than it's physically possible. - Move your limbs faster than psysically possible - Make your skin hard as steel - Move objects outside your body (The most difficult) - Make yourself heavier than physically possible, or make yourself as light as a feather You may think this is only possible in "The Matrix", but no. You don't have to believe in what I am saying. I didn't believe in it before seeing it myself. The stuff I can do is things like locking the attackers arms or wrists using zero strength, only involving breathing techiques, perfect movement, and deep concentration. The attacker uses all of his strength on trying to hold me, or choke me, etc. I use his strength on himself, leaving him in a position where he is rendered completely neutralized. In other words he is draining himself from strength, and when in the position long enough, he will hardly be able to walk. Just a brief explanation about "KI" power _________________ Lars KarateForums.com - Moderator / Jiu-Jitsu [ This Message was edited by: Lars on 2001-06-05 11:50 ]
  3. Welcome! I'm looking forward to gain some knowledge from you!
  4. Welcome Tobias!
  5. Welcome Lorraine! Yeah great hobbies! Stick around!
  6. Have you guys tried Karate before? I haven't tried it before, but I have seen a couple of performances. I don't know that much about Karate, so could anybody give me a little info on it?
  7. That is quite funny. I love the expression in the face of a stupid attacker. Men always tend to underestimate women! Those idiots really deserve to get a knee or two where it hurts most. Luckily I have never used Jiu-jitsu on anybody. People know who I am, so they don't dare touch me!
  8. Oh thanks! I personally think my site is totally ugly, and I don't know how I should make a new and more effective layout. I'm kind of stuck!
  9. LOL
  10. Yeah I have seen some guys that have been going to it, and their legs look like pro soccer player's legs. I bet they can really pack a powerful blow in those legs! I have thought about begínning to it, but I don't have enough time and energy for anymore sports than I have already. _________________ Lars KarateForums.com - Moderator / Jiu-Jitsu [ This Message was edited by: Lars on 2001-05-25 08:08 ]
  11. Uke is the attacker and Tori is the victim. At least in (jiu)ju-jitsu it is.
  12. For them that don't know what Jiu-jitsu is, then read this. Jiu-jitsu is a kind of mix of karate, judo, and aikido (correct me if I'm wrong). Jiu-jitsu is stricly a form of selfdefence, and one of the worlds best. You start to learn basic falling techniques when being pushed for example. You learn were the most painful and most exposted parts of the body are, and of course were to hit, and how to hit. You learn to control the attacker (also called Uke), and how to take advantage of his strength. How to break the attackers balance. You learn many throwing techniques, locks, and gripping techniques, for instance on the attackers wrist. These locks are VERY painful when done correct! It means "Gentle Art". Personally I don't think the name is very appropriate. I would rather call it "Ouch!". LOL My knowledge is still a little limited as I only have the green belt. But here is a list of the grades you can get in Jiu-jitsu: 6 KYU - White belt 5 KYU - Yellow belt 4 KYU - Orange belt 3 KYU - Green belt 2 KYU - Blue belt 1 KYU - Brown belt 1 DAN - Black belt You can get up to 10th DAN. 5th-10th DAN are honor grades. Meaning you have to do something for Jiu-jitsu, like founding a new type of Jiu-jitsu, or building a new dojo, etc. I hope this was interesting! Please e-mail me if you wan't to know some more about Jiu-jitsu, and I'll post it here on the board.
  13. Does anybody know anything about Tae Kwon Do? I spoke with a girl from Sweden which had tried it for a day, and she said her leg muscles were so tired that she could barely walk! I have seen a couple of performances, and I think it looks quite cool when they kick multiple targets in one jump! Very impressive indeed!
  14. Hi my name is Lars Kaerlund Oestergaard, and as you can see I am a moderator here on KarateForums.com in the Jiu-jitsu section. I'm 15, and will turn 16 in July. I have been going to Jiu-jitsu since I was 14, and I have the green belt. I have been going to gymnastics since I was 11. I have been on an elite gymnastics team, but moved to another town before I was going to perform. I went to the district's representive team for 3 years, but got tired of all the performances I had to go through. I have been a trainer for 2 years, and have been going on a local team for 4 years. What a mouthful! Otherwise I'm a freelance webdesigner, and graphics artist. I run https://www.123hyperlinks.com, and it's kind of a notebook for me. When I can't remeber the adress to a good site, I turn to 123hyperlinks, as I list any good resources I find on the web.
  15. I have nothing to add to the design. I think it's perfect! I like Vbulletin more than phpBB. As you can preview your post before submitting it. Otherwise phpBB is good enough!
  16. Thanks for the credit Patrick!
  17. I went to Judo at 9 years old until I was 11. Judo is quite fun, and very exhausting. But I lost interest in it and turned to Jiu-jitsu at 14, and I have been enjoying it ever since!
  18. I listen to almost everthing. I have some favourite bands: Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, R.E.M, and Genesis(Phil Collins). I listen to a lot of techno, hard+happy trance, freeform, and hip-hop. except a lot of pop, never opera, and I can't stand country music!
  19. My dad is really into the stock market, but I ain't yet. He has bought a few shares for me too. I got a good position in Euro Stockmaster. I got 22nd place! Only 80% of the participants gained anything out of the contest. I won a 1 year free subscription to a large newspaper here in Denmark. The fun part was that I was only on the website to buy stocks once! Kind of lazy!
  20. Greetings ju-jitsu folks! Please help this karate & various martial arts community grow ever popular! Cheers!
