For me the worst imaginal punishment is to be locked up in a maximum security prison for life... Death is the easy way out, but then again you won't have any influence on anything again.

BJJ And Judo
Lars replied to Karateka_latino's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Brazilian judo, he he! You are right they are very similar. Most of the throws in jiu-jitsu originate from judo aswell. -
who likes/does judo????
Lars replied to kicker's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I went to judo once for some years, enjoyed it, but didn't find it necessary to keep on practicing it when I begun with jiu-jitsu. Besides I didn't have time for it with my gymnastics... -
Arai Goshi!
Lars replied to moobrack's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
If it's harai-goshi then it's a lot like o-goshi but in this you stand on one leg while throwing Uke. So it is an outer leg/hip throw... Hmm -
grappling tips anyone?

That's a good tip Rambo if you want to kill your opponent... -
I have been a gymnast performing for an audience of 4000 people before, so yes you could say I'm famous... He he. I went to school with a famous teen pop star in Denmark named Toby.

Well I'm aware of frauds but the stuff he told me was something he could never have known. First time I had seen him. People just have to experience it themselves before they believe in it, and that goes with ALL spiritual stuff. Ghosts, healing, and stuff like that. I respect that you don't believe in it, and you may laugh at me all you like, but know this: It won't make me change my point of view. _________________ Lars Østergaard [ This Message was edited by: Lars on 2001-10-31 07:45 ]

Do any of you believe in what clairvoyants say and what they can do, or have you ever experienced one? I must admit that I belive in it 100%, as I have been visited by one once. He came to speak with my deceased mother, and he was accompanied by a woman that wrote down the things he said, that my mother apparantly was telling him. A lot of the things were very unclear and many of the things he got were just emotions and feelings like pain, and cold. He said he felt a pain in his collar bone, and in his left knee, which both had been injured within the last couple of years on my mother. He told a lot of stuff about her that was true, but not rock solid stuff like memories. It was propbably because it was irrelevant at the time I have watched a couple of episodes about it on TV, and it's very interesting seeing peoples face expressions when a complete stranger tells them some things that they could not possibly know.

You mean completely neutralizing an opponent? Well I'm afraid reading won't help much as you may have to see the techniques yourself, as they are much about adapting against your opponent's every move, and keeping control. Well I wouldn't suggest that method of grappling an opponent as you can easily be thrown of him/her. It's probably the worst posistion to be in even against an intermediate. Just make sure to position your balance properly in order not to be slung off. Relax in your body, in that way you are heavier. I would suggest using a head lock where you keep the opponent's arm close into your body. I hope this helped you, if not don't hesitate to ask. -
Any prefered takedowns?
Lars replied to Angus's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Oh yes that is one of my favourites too, and easy to learn too! Another I am very fond of is grabbing the punch and thereafter pulling Uke's arm behind his shoulder towards the ground, also very easy... -

Please be more specific on the grappling part. I always focus at the center of the opponent's collar bone, this gives you more overview on when and how he will strike at you, and it also prevents you from freezing and getting scared by your opponents eyes. Try not to use the most risky moves on your opponent like a standing single leg takedown, that's like wrestling. Wait until he kicks, grab his leg, and swipe him down on the leg he is standing on. -
Iv'e watching TV all day too. I just hope they will catch the people behind this act, and punish them with whats necessary. I just hope this isn't the beginning of World War 3.

Graduation - Slow or Fast
Lars replied to Lars's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Thanks! -
About the breakdancing.... Iv'e done a bit breakdancing when performing gymnastics. One of them was the ariel cartwheel (cartwheel without hands). I think combing gymnastics and breakdance is very fun, and it really impresses people! Unfortunately I only had that trainer for a year and he had to moved, so I couldn't improve and learn more breackdancing skills... But I did learn quite a lot in that year...

Graduation - Slow or Fast
Lars replied to Lars's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
That's interesting! I couldn't imagine my life without going to gymnastics when I was 12, but I had to move, and didn't get a change to compete against others.... I have thought about it, and I will carry on training as long as possible, and hey I'm not 'that' far from 1. DAN. Hopefully I'll graduate for 2. KYU before Christmas this year! -
To all of you practicing jiu-jitsu: How long does it take you to get a new belt/grade? (Practice/planning) At which level do you think you want to quit? --------------------------- I'm just asking this because that a couple of people that I train with have been on the same belt for years now. Most of them are on green belt like me (3. KYU). For many the blue belt (which comes after green) seems like a tall wall, because it suddenly involves a lot more traing than to any other of the previous belts, including a new much harder reaction course. My dad stopped at 3. KYU, but I want to go for 2. KYU. 2. KYU is a very tough graduation lasting at least one hour and a lot of explaining. The previous belts don't involve as much planning other than the extra techniques that you have to choose 5 extra of for each belt. Of course it would be great to keep on practicing until I get 1st degree black belt, but I can imagine it takes a lot of preperation, training, and planning. It took my sensei 2 years of preperation for 1. KYU, and a lot of the times he used to sit and write a lot of stuff. I'm quite interested in reading your thoughts on it.

I have just watched American Pie 2 and Scary Movie 2. I think both of them are a bit better than the first of them. What do you folks think about these two movies?
-
I haven't tried yet, but did it actually move? I've gotta try it now! It's hard to find stuff about hypnotism on the web. You have to search on all of those underground anarchy sites to find some...

Iv'e seen Big Daddy, and that movie where he's a golf player. They are both really funny!
-
I hope I don't sound like an idiot, but can you swing something up and down, or does he mean back and forth?

Hehe. That goes for all drinks containing alchohol. The maximum percentage of alchohol allowed in drinks is about 45% in Denmark. A little something Some politicians are arguing about getting a public smoking ban (No smoking cupés at work, hospitals, bus/train stations, etc). I don't think that will work out at all! I don't care if people want to smoke themselves to death, it's their own choice... I'm glad I don't! How about in the US?
