OK I've emailed the sensei and he's really friendly and informative. The cost is just $15 a month along with annual dues to SKA. The gi is just 20 bucks. They also do sparring "We do sparr. Four different methods. one step, three step, free one attack and of course, free sparring. very sensitive to respect and control to prevent stupid injuries that prevent continous practice." Also since its a member of SKA there are "special trainings" that I will have the opportunity of going too if I join the school He's invited me to come to a few classes at no cost, I hope to do so either this tuesday or the next as I have to work

Thanks for your input everyone, and especially thanks to PAI, I've looked for a Shotokan school forever, this one seems legit, and its less than 1 block from my house! I just never caught it before, its not in the yellow pages or anything.

OK I've come up with two techniques to harden my fists, I haven't done them yet and am just seeking opinions on them. I already bare knuckle my heavy canvas bag so I need something a bit tougher 1. Using two small metal pans packed with sand, and doing knuckle pushups onto them. 2. using spray adhesive to attach sand particles to a portion of my heavy bag.
