Yellow Belt

Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. Thanks for the congrats everyone! I can't believe I finally achieved this. I still have so much more to learn! WELL,only 4 more years to 2nd degree!
  2. It went very well and I passed!!!!!!! I was nervous when I got there, so I was trying to relax talking with friends. When I went in the bathroom to get dressed and put my brace on,I discovered IT WAS BROKE!!!! I was freaking out! I looked everywhere for the broken piece to see if it could be fixed with no luck. Normally,I would have just tried without it,but I tore my meniscus on the other leg and really needed to rely on the left (bad knee) Luckily,my husband drove home and repaired it just in the nick of time! UUUGHHH! That whole scene really got me hyped up! LOL Anyway, last night was day 1 of a sparring seminar...I am sore and bruised. Tonight is day 2 and then I am off to relax on the beach for a few days. Thanks for all the support!
  3. Next Tuesday I test for my 1st degree Black Belt. After almost 5 years of training, I am one test away!! I have had this dream since I was about 8yrs old and I am so close!!! I am going back and forth between excitement and nervousness Prayers and well wishes greatly appreciated
  4. Thanks! It's my 2nd black belt test for the Grandmaster...I am a black brown. I would have been receiving my black belt tonight, but they extended everyone a year. I am kind of glad because I won't be performing my best tonight.
  5. Hi all....my seminar is starting tonight with testing. I was hoping someone could give me some insight to ease my nerves. This is my second test towards black belt and I am nursing some injuries.
  6. Well the test and seminar are done and over! I did very well! I was scored and critiqued by a black belt, and had more good than bad comments. I am glad it's over! Now I have a year to learn a ton of stuff before the next test! Thanks for all the advice and well wishes!
  7. Thanks everyone! The big test is tomorrow night!!! I've had some sleepless nights and alternate between confident and nervous. I just really want it to be over,LOL Please wish me good luck!
  8. Hey everyone, This summer I am testing in the presence of the Grandmaster of Kuk Sool Won. It's my first test on my way to black belt. Can any of you experienced people give me any training tips or any useful advice? TIA
  9. Thanks for the replies guys! Maybe I should have clarified a few things. I already went through the rest period with it. Now I am strengthening it back up. My Dr and I both agree not working it would be the worse thing for it. I am back to pumping iron to build the muscles as much as possible. My Kuk Sool training has helped it. Has anyone had their ACL repaired? I'd love some insight on that! Thanks again guys!
  10. Hi everyone, It's been awhile since I have been here....hope everyone is doing fine. Here's my dilemma: I tore my ACL (23 yrs ago) but have trained with it with no major problems....until recently. A freak accident in class blew my knee out. I was fitted with an ACL Sports Brace, and had 2 minor blow-outs with the brace. One of which occured during my brown belt test(I did get up and finish) Here's where I need some advice. Should I have my ACL repaired now? It will be approximately 8 months before my first testing for black belt. The Dr's say about 9 months at the most for 100%(I have alot of knee problems) I also have to get 4 tips during that 8 months in order to test.I will get one in 2 weeks. My other alternative is to wait until after my 1st black belt test, hope for the best, while strengthening the knee. This is really frustrating,I don't want to wait to test. I hope you can undertand this post. Thanks
  11. Sorry about your injury! I feel your pain! I pulled mine a few years ago...can't even pinpoint when. Anyway, mine felt ok,until I had to go up stairs or if I let my legs fall out to the sides...then it killed. It took me about 8 months to feel ok. I exercised very gently with gentle stretches also. I didn't train in MAs then,so I can't comment on that, but I can imagine it would be difficult. Also, take into consideration every injury is different and everyone heals at a different rate. Hope it feel better soon!
  12. It is possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. To do this, you must make sure your macros(protein, carbs, fat) are in the right percentages....sometimes this takes some tweaking,as everyone's body is different. Rest is also very important,as is balancing your workouts. I am currently doing this under the direction of a bodybuilder with many years experience.I have lost over 2%BF,but have not lost any weight(gained muscle) I want to add,it's easier to do them separately.(from what I've read) Good Luck
