  1. Yeah, Being quarter hawaiian, I don't really know about Lua but I know something about Kajukenbo which was a creation in Hawaii but I don't think it was a "native martial art" Ka=Karate Ju=Ju-Jitsu Ken=Kenpo Bo=Boxing.

  5. Yeah, There is more to the game or jogo then just what like you see also in movies.
  6. They do have ranking cordao(cords/belts) but they usually play in the roda or batizado to rank up and yeah there are no forms/patterns or gradings but just learning Capoeira techniques and sometimes learn to play the berimbau and sing...
  7. You'll need to know how to bob and weave and when that punch comes towards and it hits your forearms don't I repeat don't and try not to make it a habit to close your eyes all you have to do is just keep your eyes on the opponent.
  8. Yeah, It's risky in a real street fight unless you're really good and you can pull that off but it does have a lot of power because the momentum of the spin then when the kick lands it's all in one motion.
  9. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is your best choice but on the topic about BJJ being better than Judo, I've heard that some of the Gracie's like Helio went to a Judo instrcutor in Brazil but all I know is that Maeda taught the Gracie's some Judo.
  10. Yeah, I check kicks with my leg or shin part and yeah it's really hard because it's a sidewards stance instead of a Muay Thai traditional stance.
  11. Hey, I saw on your sig that you train at Pacific Taekwon-do and is that the place where your master is Daniel Kim?. Back to the subject now, You probably are in WTF Taekwon-do where they focus more on the sport aspect of TKD and if you want you can switch, It's really up to you but I would suggest going to a ITF Tae Kwon Do school which ITF focuses more on self-defense.
  12. I've got one technique where you can dodge a roundhouse with people with long legs and this is how you do it: When that person throws a roundhouse you just 90 degree avoid if you know what this is and side step also...
