I've had quite a few bad experiences with Blitz recently, including one where I ordered a couple of belts for my lower grade students and they took over a month to arrive. I shan't be using Blitz again either. I'll be trying MA Warehouse instead!

Wing Chun Kung Fu or Goju Ryu Karate
aefibird replied to Dr. Flem's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Good luck with your new training Dr. Flem! I currently train in both WC and karate (it's Shotokan based, but there's elements of Goju in it). Once you 'get going' with your training in one martial art, you might wanna think about taking both of your choices. I love my training in WC and I also love my training in karate. However, although they are very similar in a lot of respects, theres plenty of differences too, so I wouldn't suggest that you start out with 2 new martial arts at the same time. Anyway, have fun and train hard whichever MA you decide to train in! -
Well, it's not the best horror film I've ever seen, but the last one I watched was Saw. Still good though, IMO. I also watched Shaun of the Dead last night, but I don't think comedy zombies count...

Woo hoo! Have fun!! Aww, belated Happy Birthday to you Patrick!

Well, the last lesson before the Christmas Holidays we play games instead of warm-ups and do other fun stuff instead of having a regular class. As for instructing, students at my dojo are expected to help out the lower-grade students all the time, if they see someone who is stuck, especially if me or Sensei is busy with someone else. Even whitebelts can help a complete beginner - even if all they do is show them how to tie their gi correctly. When students reach 5th kyu they can help out with instructing the classes, under the supervision of myself or Sensei, or a senior grade if we've broken up into small groups.

Well, congratulations on being asked to double grade! I'm sure that if you work hard you'll get that next grade in 3 months.

Happy Holidays to all! Hope you all have a peaceful holiday time and a great start to 2005!

I'll be nerdy with you Dean - I love astronomy! I like going out to watch meteor showers too. Sadly, I'm too far south to see the "Northern Lights". although I hope one day to be able to make a trip to Norway to witness the phenomena.

I sure did! I think I need to get out more, though... I'm the joint Mayor of Who-ville along with monkeygirl... I love Christmas songs!

Literally written on or embroidered? If it's embroidered, doesn't that work out quite expensive?

I have to say that I agree with DM. Having a named style isn't necessary to the progeression of your character and story is it? If it isn't, then there's not a lot of point in a NAMED style (or even a real style) being there, especially if your book is already half-written and you haven't got much martial arts knowledge to do the correct background-filling details. Also, about the James Bond clone... yes, she does seem a bit James Bond-y from the description that you've given of her. Super-duper mega secret agent who is good at everything and (no doubt) is extremely attractive and sucessful? Personally, I prefer characters in books that I read to seem a little more human, rather than the epitome of everything that is great aond wonderful and flash and secret agent-y... Sorry to appear negative about your project. I hate being negative with anyone, especially as I know how difficult and cut-throat the writing business can be (I write children's fiction). Plus, I truly hope that you suceed with your book. I just wish (from my own personal POV) that your lead character sounded a little more..well, human rather than a sucessful great-at-everything superhero type.

Good luck! -
I belong to the F.S.K., which is a member of the E.K.G.B., which is affiliated with SportEngland, which is connected with W.F.K. So...in a roundabout way, my Sensei is registered with the W.K.F., athough only indirectly.

I've got a couple of reviews I'm working on. -
RIP Dimebag. I only got the chance to see Pantera live once, but they were amazing. My thoughts with the families of all involved.

Has anyone seen the original version of this film (known as Ju-on)? If so, what do you think about the differences between the old and the new (the one with Sarah Michelle Gellar in it)? Personally I preferred the older version. However, I'm not sure whether that's because I thought Ju-On was a better film, or whether its just because I dislike SMG so much...

Hi krzychicano! Welcome to Karate Forums. I'll move this to the Intro section for you. Good to have you on board - we have quite a few members who train in KSW. Congratulations on being promoted to yellow belt! If you make a seperate post in the Korean forum, I'm sure the KSW-ers on here will be able to help you with Jool Bong video clips.
