  1. Pushing hands/push hands competition. It's a technique used in Tai Chi and other Internal styles. It's to do with sensitivity, in a similar way that Sticking Hands training is. I've never competed in Pushing Hands contests because I don't have enough Tai Chi training experience yet, but I know a couple of people from my kwoon who have.
  2. Yeah, I never like it when I get a bye. I can understand the reasoning behind them, but I always feel a little like I've 'cheated' if I ever get the bye. Kicks, I think you made the right decision. It would've been a hard one for me to have to make, but I think you did the correct thing and earned a lot of respect. Plus, you showed that "there's always another competition" by going on to win the Nationals!
  3. Good luck for the Scottish competition!
  4. Great! Congratulations Patrick and Happy Birthday KF!
  5. I like anything with Yoda in it too, but the Anakin vs Obi-Wan fight in the newest movie was cool.
  6. Guinea Pigs rule! I have three, although until recently I used to have 4. They make fantastic pets - very rewarding creatures.
  7. Bookshops are cool. I love books - my house is like a library with a bed in it! Its actually one of my 'dreams' to own a secondhand book shop where people can come and buy cool books and browse as long as they like. Free books for all my friends on KF of course!!
  8. I saw that story in a newspaper I was reading the other day. lol, very funny! Scary too, that the docs can actually spend serious time thinking about the subject.
  9. Here's a few ideas for you... See if there's any summer schools running in your local area. Train outside in the park when the dojo is shut. Take up a new sport for the summer or learn another language. Get together with your mates and organise day trips out to fun places. Go on long cycle rides with just you (and an iPod for company if you feel so inclined!). Find out about local museums and go visit - local history can be very fascinating (and gruesome too - I'm currently reading a book about pre-20th Century murders in the area where I live - it makes extreme slasher flicks look tame...) Alternatively, you could be really radical and do the definately un-studenty thing and clean your room and help your parents with lots of jobs about the house... Whatever you do, have a good summer!
  10. Leather is better than foam or vinyl but it is more expensive. Century, ProForce, Blitz, M.A.R. and Top Ten all make good foam & vinyl point sparring gear.
  11. Kicks, what on earth are smores???
  12. Excellent result greenbeltgirl!
  13. Happy birthday for then!
  14. Thank sounds very impressive Heidi! Is there a website with it on?
  15. Cool! I love cats. Well done you for adopting a 'rescue' cat - you'll have a great pal there! :0
  16. THANKS! I had a great day.
  17. That's a good thing for adults to do too. At bigger tourneys stuff can sometimes end up in all sorts of wierd places.
  18. Yes, some of those little kids are 'nutters' when it comes to the fighting.
  19. lol, I hear ya on that one. I have pair of gi trousers that I wear for Wing Chun. They started out as black with a red stripe down each leg...now they're grey with a pink stripe! I think I'm definately gonna have to get myself a new pair.
  20. Good luck to both of you! Let us know how you do.
  21. Great! I'm glad you had a good time.
  22. I graduate from university at Christmas this year. I've been studying part-time for a university degree in English and Performing Arts. It's been hard work but a lot of fun too!
  23. Good luck for when you test! Practice breaking beforehand. Tell yourself that you can do it and you will...
