  1. My advice, and this is important... keep it high at all times... and dont walk much. I was playing football when I got a similay injury, a guy kicked me really hard in my shin, he was wearing shin pads... I wasn't, I played for a while, but the pain got worse, when I got home I couldn't walk on it, I put ice on it and all that, but it didn't do much. So for a couple of days I was on crutches, (still no bruising) and after that it was almost okay, then a week after the accident I got bruising on my foot, the doctor hadn't told me about that so I went to the doctor agin, now she said it was musculature and blood that had gathered ther during those days that I didn't keep my leg up high. and for 2 weeks I couldn't put weight on the foot, the crap that had gathered in my foot was aching like hell, probably pressed on nerves, so the whole thing lasted about 5 weeks until I was able to train again. So keep the leg high, until you think you think youre ready to put all your weight on the leg, once blood has gathered in your foot its irreversible, but the good thing is that if it isn't that severe and you can stand the pain then it's okay to do whatever after it has already bruised.
  2. I would agree on that point... ofcourse, I would think the exact same thing, but hurting one severly diminiches their manpower to take you down, that is, it is better to hurt one and run than to just run... cause if they challenge you they are still gonna chase you down, and they wont get any faster by you taking one out, quite the opposite, atleast one will stay and make sure the beaten would get up and be ready to run after the guy, after that, well the situation is the same except you have say 2 instead of 4 guys after you though they are more motivated now to catch you... its just up to the situation to pick which one is better. I know a guy who got trapped in an alley by 4 guys, now he attacked the "leader" which was very unexpected, and then he just bursted through the other 3 who were stunned by him punching the first guy, and then he made a run for it, and got away... (this happened very fast) Now these guys didn't try to hurt him again because he and he's friends made it very clear to them that it was pointless. Ofcourse everyone acts pretty much on instinct when something like this happens, and that instinct may be fear, calm or rage... I'm just giving an alternative to just running... and the worst thing you could do in this case is grapple... you do not want to fall on the ground, especially battling with one of the guys, then youre pretty much hospitalized right there. You dont even want to stay there.. If you want to take on more than one guy then I suggest 'krav maga', the military kind, and I suggest you get good at it... Or you could do as someone else already suggested, pack heat!
  3. JKogas wrote: I'll have to argue that... I'm a boxer and I have fought alot of newbies in the ring, friends who think they've got what it takes. A couple of friends and I bought gloves with which to box a little acctually. Now the thing with theese guys, they are strong motivated and one of them is fast, and they are about 20cm taller than me... So what I've learned with this is, noone acctually can punch until taught how, thy dont get the snapp, the speed, and they always clearly tell me when tehy are going to punch. So everyone cant punch, acctually anyone whos about to beat you down in the street probably wont have the slightest clue of how to punch except for their hand crushing your face. So my opinion on the topic is, get a good lang uppecut in the solar plexus, that will knock one of them out and he wont be able to stand up for a while, the run, RUN LIKE HELL!.. now you've proven your manhood by beating down the leader and shown that you aren't macho by running from multiple opponents. 4. This is quite simply a straight punch, when you punch you twist your hand like a corkscrew (actually its the oposite way of turning a corkscrew, but still) when your hand is by your chin it will be with the knuckles facing away from your face. while punching you twist your hand evenly along the punch, and the hand will rotate almost 180 degrees. the twist helps protect your elbow, and it produces a straight snappy punch once your've mastered it. Hope I helped
  5. Yup, I shadow box to, I usually try to make up series and vary them alot... I usually do things like evading much, and pretend the series the opponnent would do, I also think its easier to practise evadeing when I shadow box than when I'm punching a heavy bag, since the "pretend opponnent" can move around alot more than the heavy bag !
  6. No, it isnt possible if it's an mcdojo No, but seriously, you should check that out.. it might not be a mcdojo(probably not since your in it, and you care enough to come here and ask about training) Se if noone ever fails a test, and compare with other schools training! Dont take this personal, and I'm sorry if I insulted you in any way!
  7. I'm glad you agree on that atleast Well ok, normally I would just dig up everything I can and argue every one of your points... but not now, because I really like judo and I dont want to thrash it any more than you do, and I love boxing! But I still think that boxing overall demands more stamina, and judo more strength, although both requires both... I mean Lennox isn't exactly weak and I'm not saying that judo practitioners have bad stamina... Yes, about this, It is a self defence street situation... Ofcourse it pays of more to endure punches, unless you actually are fighting a judo practitioner, but that isnt the normal scenario, its against a average joe who doesnt practise martial arts... he will most likely hit, not grapple...
  8. I think it looks like crap, especially the footgear, never seen any thing like that before... but then again I dont kick ! Those gloves seem to be pretty low quality, or is it the silver color that does that? I dont know man, seems pretty bad to me... one good thing is the headgear, they dont cover too much of the face, just like its supposed to be...
  9. Actually it does (teach breakfall), not exactly in the "ukemi" way but still, so you wont get KOed from falling with your head to the ground! and no, my school wasnt competitive, the sport itself, I meant, doesnt build stamina and you dont need to run 10km every morning to do judo and be good at it... ofcourse you can do it if you want to, but if I would train judo regularily then I would rather lift weights more and only go running a few times a week and so on... judo doesnt need you to be able to move around like crazy all the time, boxing does! But ofcourse all lead athletics have to stay in shape... so if your guy was ranked 3:rd then I guess he had to build stamina more effectively then the sport itself actually demands from normal practitioners... I mean playing ping-pong doesnt actually demand for you to be in perfect shape, still the leading practitioners in that sport probably are! And ofcourse, it has been said before and I'm going to say it againg, it depends on the school! And ofcourse, to get to the actual point, what is more useful in a self defence situation on the street, breakfall or enduring punches? Ps. I really like judo and I especially like judo combined with boxing, I think thats the ultimate self defence, and I'm probably going to start in judo in a few weeks!
  10. 167cm and 74kg (5'6 and 160) im muscular and very wide (pretty fast to)
  11. not in the same way, a boxer becomes a better fighter because he can endure alot more punches, also... he gets in alot better condition, he's got more stamina. Judo isn't as much moving and jumping around as boxing, although strength is more important in judo then in boxing, I say this out of personal experience in both!
  12. Ok, thanks for explaining ! Now lets get back to the mcdojos
  13. Yes, I get what your saying wolverine, but still, I mean he has 11 years of training, and I beat him easy, real easy. He could punch, not hard but still. But he wasnt able to avoid my punches at all, though he did keep a good distance... Well... I'll just rely on your answer... heck what do I have to loose doing that
  14. Ok, now that youve explained some of this to me then I know that what I first thaught was right... so the thing I hate about theese Mcdojos is; some people have told me that they a while ago saw a martial artist black belt get beaten by a street thug (video), this has happened more than once, and they complete their insult to MA:s by saying that, for example, Karate sucks, and you get better at fighting by lifting weights, and so on... Now how I se this is that the black belts who are always beat down, are in fact Mcdojo'ists who spoil the reputation of all martial artists! And another thing, last week we got a beginner to our boxing class, he was a karate practitioner, with 11 years of practise. It wasnt until I had beat him quite good without even using full speed, that they told me this... I've only been in boxing for one year, and though I consider myself to be pretty good already, is it really possible that I beat someone, in boxing, who's practised karate (contact might I add) for 11 years? By if there are any well known Mcdojoists out there I meant strong guys who have managed to live of that until they meet/met a real fighter (K1 seems to have potential for such a fighter) btw. everyone, check out the page to!: https://www.mcdojo.com
  15. Ok the deal is this, I dont know so much about this and it would interest me and probably many others if anyone with info about theese Mcdojos would share it... What is it, and what do they do in a Mcdojo, the only thing I know is that they are fake... but what do they get out of beeing fake and so on? A friend of mine told me about this site he had found a while ago... "great site" he said: https://www.mcdojo.com and the name kinda got my attention, I just told him it was fake in some way! Also another thing, are there any known Mcdojo fighters... like for example in K1, some fights that ive seen there havent exactly been performed with skill? Thanks
