  1. Shotokan uses deeper stances than shorin ryu. Shotokan uses Japanese names shorin ryu uses Okinawan names. I can't say much about goju I don't know a lot.

  4. I will never forget one of the books I read early on in my training. When talking about dojo etiquite one of the things mentioned was wash feet before class.

  20. The amount of bashing of someones choice to use face protection during sparring is getting to be a bit too personal. There is enough diversity in the levels of contact in sparring in the different types of martial arts that saying one view is wrong or wimpy in todays enviroment is a bit out moded and old fashioned. As the age of participants in the martial arts rises accomadations are being made. Espcecially for those who begin training at an older age. This is not a feudal era. And lower belts need time and practice to become effective at things like blocking. Older students may have slower reflexes than younger ones. There is nothing wrong with an older lower belt wanting to show the wisdom of their age by using protective gear during the learning stages of training.
  21. You can start with basic pushups and pullups. And a variety of situps and leg raises.
  22. How much longer will you be in Korea? You should be able to find some good training opportunities there.
