  1. Time, and the night, just totally disappears while on the net.
  2. funny! :spitlaugh:
  3. Well I thought harder about this topic ages ago when I first developed ms. You see it moved so fast at first they thought I had als. Over 20 years, and a few scares, later. hmmmmmm I think I would like to die doing something I enjoy doing. Even if it is just something simple like cuddling my cat.
  4. I am so proud. My one, and only, niece will be starting college this spring. And get this she is currently a shophmore in high school! She got into and accelerated program and scored well enough to start college full time! She is really a sweet kid.
  5. Hmm a social life? Well most of my social life is either in karate or in the gym. We do have a bit of a social life in the building I live in too. I spend a lot of my time alone. After putting my life back together with the help of karate I don't mind being with myself anymore. I have allways had a quieter disposition and have never really like large crowds.
  6. Love on the internet - definately not. Only if you are communicating with someone you know who moved out of the area and that is how you stay in contact. I do have friends on the internet from a cat lovers chat room. We send each other pictures of our cats, but not of ourselves. There are just too many wierdo's on the net to ever want to tell someone I don't allready know where I live more precisely than just a state.
  7. Me either!
  8. Thanks for the tip Tobias. When I play Pharoah in the city of Meidum I build a warship even thought there are no sea attacks because the warship can be very effective at killing the hippos who eat my people on the edge of the river working. Those hippos eat foresters and laborers in the claypits and are really well fed on reed gatherers.
  9. You know Joe after I was reccomending The Lord of the RIngs as a good read I developed an interest in rereading it. So I went to my local book store and they were out. But they will have a new shipment in next week. It is really selling well now.
  10. Why not Joe? I mean how many new internet junkies are hatched every day?
  11. Ah yes, but, The Lord of the RIngs is one classic that will allways be better when seen in the imagination while reading it. As good as the movie is you just gotta' read the book.
  12. You know Prodigy it is amazing how many new dojo's open as a result of a split. I think that is also a part of the reason there are so many different styles of karate. Or off-shoots of a style.
  13. Yep we all think we should do things too fast. I kind of think being able to stop and regroup will cut down on frustration. If I ever learn how. Seriously Zak I know how you feel. It took me 2 years to do a spinning back kick. I kept getting discouraged and stopping because I thought I couldn't do it. As I was learning tekki nidan and forgetting and forgetting I didn't stop. I just kept starting over. Maybe if I would have just stopped a minute to breath and then come back and start over the spinning kick would have come sooner.
  14. Cool tell me what you think of he bo videos. I have the sai video. And I think it is really pretty good.
  15. I did a search and really only found one nunti bo. It was at http://www.wwmas.com Made by Shureido of red oak overall length=81",Bo=67",nunti length+14",weight 3 1/2 lbs. In natural it was like $194.95 with an extra $20 added to the shipping charge. Maybe your instructor will know where to get one?
  16. So If I say there are differnent areas of speed: handspeed, footspeed, duckingspeed, and speed in thinking on your feet and responding in your head fast What would you say a person with no foot speed should focus on to improve fighting and self defense skills?
  17. Good points Kickchick. We focus on ambidexterity before multiple boards. And I assure you brute force is not my forte. I don't think I am being complacent but I do realized because of the ms there will be a limit to what I can ultimately achieve. And I will hit it before a healthy person of the same age. I think for the time being speed is where I should focus. I do like hearing other opinions though.
  18. Welcome Eru. Look around in general karate and health and fitness others ask the same questions. While you at it look at everything sooner or late this is a great site. Sai
  19. It is never too late to wish someone good things. On this Christmas Eve (for those who practice) Merry Christmas. For everyone else have a good day and spend some quality time with those you care about anyway.
  20. Kicker that was hilarious :spitlaugh: There's a guy who owns a parrot that swears like a sailor. He can swear for five minutes straight without repeating himself. Trouble is, the guy who owns him is a quiet, conservative type, and this bird's foul mouth is driving him crazy. One day, it gets to be too much. The guy grabs the bird by the throat, shakes him hard and yells, "QUIT IT!" But this just makes the bird mad and he swears more than ever. Then the guy gets mad and says, "OK for you." He locks the bird in a kitchen cabinet. This really aggravates the bird and he claws and scratches, and when the guy finally lets him out, the bird cuts loose with a stream of vulgarities that would make a veteran sailor blush. At this point, the guy is so mad that he throws the bird into the freezer. For the first few seconds there is a terrible din. The bird kicks and claws and thrashes. Then it suddenly gets very, very quiet . At first the guy just waits, but then he starts to think that the bird may be hurt. After a couple of minutes of silence, he's worried enough to open the freezer door. The bird calmly climbs onto the man's outstretched arm and says, "Awfully sorry about the trouble I gave you. I'll do my best to improve my vocabulary from now on." The man is astounded. He can't understand the transformation that has come over the parrot. Then the parrot says, "By the way, what did that chicken ever do to you?"
  21. At this point I would rather give up my tv than my computer. And I just got Age of Empires anyone got any pointers?
  22. There is a great book about Mushashi the great swordsman. I think it is by Ijii Yoshikawa. If you can't find that one try Taiko by the same author. Or a good choice would be to READ Lord of the Rings. You are about the age I was when I read it the first time and it is great.
  23. I have another thougt too. We sometimes think we need to advance in rank and grasp techniques much to quickly. If Itosu had Funakoshi work on the Naihanchi katas for 3 years compared to how much time we spend on a kata. Well, doesn't it make you think. How many thousands of times should a technique be done before we are ready to feel like we do it well?
  24. You know they were also much more intune to their cultural heritage than we are. Do you think that is more a factor of the whole culture being more aware? We sure don't have much culture awareness now. Do you think that is more a factor of too much tv or the melting pot into which much culture of origin was lost?
  25. That is an excellant question. And I am really not sure how I would react.
