Dear friend: I am a student of Shito-ryu Karate-do but between my friends this one a group of Kyoskushinkai called Yuwa-kai in Mexico Country. They invite me to train with them and I help them in your examinations doing Kumite. Is very hard style. But is more that only Kumite or competitions, the rules of competition do not have validity in a real situation, it I believe that we all know, these rules were created for the safety of the students in the competitions. Yes is correct. I has information about this versions but in Chito-ryu the Rohai-Dai Kata was teaching by Kanryo Higaonna (?!) to Dr. Chitose. I very interesed in this version.

Hi: Kenwa Mabuni register Shito-ryu in Japan in 1934 and he are friend of Kanken Toyama (Shudokan) both masters have training with Anko Itosu and Kanryo Higaonna. In this time the Association Shudokan was a group where there was registered most of the teachers of Karate of the island Honshu and realized activities together.But this collaboration I end with Kenwa Mabuni's death in 1952.

Shukokai was created by Chojiro Tani, student of Kenwa Mabuni (founder of Shito-ryu).

Hello: Well I am stylist of Shito-ryu Karate, It is known that Funakoshi Sensei when it came to the island Honshu alone knew Katas's couple: Naifanchin and Koshokun (Tekki and Kanku-Dai). When Kenwa Mabuni I come to Tokyo, Sensei Funakoshi went to train with to learn the Katas Heian since he did not know them. After sending to some of his pupils to learn with Sensei Mabuni other Katas and his your applications Bunkai. Mabuni (Shito-ryu) and Miyagui (Goju-ryu) they were the teachers who initiated the development of the formal Bunkai of the Katas that till then did not exist. Sensei Itosu is not teaching Bunkai only Kata, there existed in those days a group of exercises called Tin Chi Ki (tegumi) which they were practising together with the Katas and that was giving the tools for your brutal application in situations of self-defence. Nahate (Sanchin, Tensho, Sochin, Pachu, etc). Tomarite (Wanshu, Jion, Wando, Chinshu, Rohai, etc) Hakutsuru-ken (Hakucho, Happoren, Nipaipo, Hakutsuru, etc). Judo Nage-waza. Thank you my friend for your response!!!!! And yes in Honshu, Japan only Shotokan and Shito-ryu are practice Unsu Kata (Unsu in Shotokan and Unshu in Shito-ryu) but in Okinawa some styles minor are practiced this Kata.

I know the Shotokan version and Shito-ryu version but the version of the Newsletter I never see. Anyone can help me to found this Kata in the web or know people of this site (http://www.isok.org/) to see and analyse this Kata via Internet. Bunkai-jutsu is very complex, in Okinawa is called 'Bun Bu Kai Setsu' and have 3 parts: a)Omote (basic or obvious, block, kick and punch) b)Ura (advanced with throws and grappling) c)Okuden (secret maybe kyusho-jutsu) When I study Bunkai of Kata very much with time (many years) I be can invent my techniques about this Kata (anyone) and this waza is called 'Oyo ', 'Oyo-jutsu' or 'Oyo-bunkai'.

Friends: Kyokushinkai is a very hard school but this hardess is efective with good tanren-geiko, the karateka of this style training very, very hard and your learning is progresive. The Tachi-kata basic is Sanchin-dachi, all your waza are in Sanchin-dachi (as you see is tanren-geiko). All styles of Karate-do have a program, Kyokushinkai is not exception. If anymore style of Karate-do is not have program, so these style is very dangerous in the practice. The Sensei of these style is very important in this vision.

Friends: Quanfa (Chuan Fa, Gongfu) in japanese is say Ken Po. In languaje spanish is read as Kempo to gramatical law. In the USA the word Kenpo is used to syles of Edmund Parker and Kempo to styles japanese, but this are a conventionality. Some years ago this conventionality are extend across world.

Hello. I am 3er.Dan of Shito-ryu Karate-do in the Shito-kai organization in Mexico Country. The diferences are little between Shito-ryu and Shito-kai. Shito-ryu is the name of the style and Shito-kai is the name of the organization is very simple. Exist many branches of Shito-ryu: *Dento Shito-ryu of Kenei Mabuni. *Seito Shito-ryu of Kenzo Mabuni. *Shito-kai of Manzo Iwata. *Itosu-kai of Ryusho Sakagami. *Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu of Teruo Hayashi, and others. Now this organizations are in World Federation of Shito-ryu Karate-do.
