  1. Im hearing from different mds favorable things about glucosamine to keep cartilidge Md told me that tendonytis is one precursor to arthritis so one more reason to stretch. Im 52 and being very carefull as the knees are first to go.
  2. Problem is the school that I go to is structured with one private and I get to purple belt Class either 1 or max 2 yimes a week to equal 3 classes one week and 2 the next due to work schedule.Only other alternative is to attend white or orange belt classes rest of the time. The school is fairly new and the founder teaches all the classes for lack of instuctors. Hes a 6 degree and an excelent instrutor of kempo. Thoughts ?
  3. Peciate the feedback.I helps with the questions that arise as Ive gotten older though why MA? is one that Ive never try to really answer till lately. Questions at 51 are not the same as at 21. Been delving into "The Budo" a book called ki and the martial arts makes the point of searching for the way being as essential a component as are the techniques for being an accomplished MA. Stuff gets quite deep. It ties thing to the actual practice. Really ties in the mental spiritual with Butt Kicking. Highly recommend it.
  4. tHANKS KMAN!. GUESS FEELING RIDICULOUS WITH YOUNGER STUDENTS IS A MATTER OF KEEPING ME HUMBLE. AS YOU PROVABLY (REMEMBER)FIGURED, ITS EASY TO LET THESE SKILLS GO TO ONES HEAD.

ON A MORE ADULT LEVEL. iTS HARDER TO NOT DO ANYTHING TOO STRENEOUS AFTER A HARD COUPLE OF WORKOUTS . tO JUST LAY BACK. pROBLEM : mY SCHOOL : i GET A PRIVATE CLASS WITH SHIDOSHI AND A REGULAR CLASS A WEEK.STRICKTLY FO MY LEVEL. (VERY GOOD WITH LOTS OF ATTENTION TO SPECIC ASPECTS OF MY PRACTICE) tHE ONLY OTHER WAY TO GETANOTHER PRACTICE IN IS TO GO TO A LOWER LEVELS CLASS. mAYBE IM WRONG TO ,ON SOME UNCONSCIOUS LEVEL, NOT WANTING ,OR THINKING , THAT IM TOO ADVANCED FOR THAT.(AT LEAST NO GERBILS)

Im experimenting with how best to incorporate weights.It s provably ok ifI can adapt them .Instead of jerking them up and down with grunts I try to keep them about 50 % of my max and use flowing motion. Extending and retracting at same time. just as with basic motions of blocking and striking.Thanks for turning me on to the over 40 set. Dont see recet posts there though.
  8. pmhi . thanks for feedback. For years ive been working out with weights (light type) though Im not particularly thick Ive found that at 51 they made my form somewhat rigid and jerky. I took shotokan in my late 20s.I find that , like you point out the stretching is paramount.
  9. Im 51 year old and have been at kempo 1 year achieving purple belt. My next goal if to ge to green in next 12 months. Next youngest in my school is 38 yrs old. oftentimes I get a sense of being out of place and just plain ridiculous. I pretty much hold my own in kumite. Wonder if there are any other aficionados my age(or therabouts) or does any one have any students in their class who is an aarp member?I Truly love the M.A is their a masters type division?
