If he wants to keep his thread going, he needs to post some new pics. I think it is ignorant to judge our countries airport security based on one event. If Osama had targeted any countries airlines the same result would have happened. Before and since 9/11 we have foiled many attempts at terrorism at our airports. It is impossible to stop 100% of the people 100% of the time. Especially when we have people who care nothing for their own lives and are willing to kill themselves along with others, just like the suicide bombers that we hear about everyday, you can't stop that. The simple fact is every country has their weaknesses, and none of them are without fault. What about the Libyians and Lockerbie in 1988?

What is this Drunken Monkey, you are agreeing with Sano? I think we should leave the terrorist hunting up to the professionals not some 12 year old kid who posts ridiculous amounts of garbage, and watches too much anime and wwe. The real reason sano doesn't come over here isn't terrorists, it is because his parents wont give him permission.

Goshinman, using the words "sano" and "right" in the same sentence is an oxymoron inside itself. Please refrain from using such offensive verbage. Hey Drunken Monkey, I don't know about you but I use the WWE as a guide for everything, especially when I want to get my butt kicked by real martial artists.

I cannot believe that this thread is still open. Just when I think Sano says the stupidest thing I have ever heard, he goes ahead and opens his mouth again. Goldberg was a two-bit football player that couldn't make it in the pro's and decided to try out something that required a little more acting. And that is all it is, acting....glorified at that. If Sano's ignorance wasn't so annoying to me I would probably just ignore this thread all together. So Sano, what will your next argument be? Goldberg is great because he beat Hulk Hogan? Go back to the monkey bars and merry-go-round.

Sorry goshinman, I meant that Royce won multiple pride fights, not championships, I remember when he lost to Sakuraba in the Finals after beating Nobuhiko Takada first round. I think it is pretty unreal that the fight went 90 minutes, not too many people could have done that against Sakuraba in those days.

UFC and Jujitsu Tournaments
btroadman replied to Tibby's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Gotcha, and you are right, someone would have eventually said that. But the basic difference between a jiujitsu tournament and the UFC is the color of your eyes and the size of your lips when it is all over. -
The sentence structure is getting a little better sano...but the intellect is still lacking. Royce Gracie didn't win UFC 1, 2, 4, and multiple Pride championships on his ability to High kick. He is 170lbs and beat people like Kimo. Those are the best in the business, lets focus on everybody else. You can learn your Kata and be a great Karate martial artist, but take a look at what happened to a Shotokan Karate student who thought Brazilian JiuJitsu was weak and worthless.... http://www.bullshido.com/dl_goto.asp?id=64

UFC and Jujitsu Tournaments
btroadman replied to Tibby's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
As a person who enjoys a good jiujitsu match, I was dissapointed a little because the last UFC had very little submissions and grappling. Since everyone reckognizes BJJ skills now, even the best 'ground and pound' fighters know how to handle themselves if it comes down to grappling. And just for a couple more cents added, you can wear a gi if you want to in the UFC. -
The Gracies

Royce beat Kimo in UFC 3 but couldn't continue on. He won UFC 1, 2, and 4 though. -
Combative or not combative?
btroadman replied to Icetuete's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Good strong fighters still come out of the McDojos, but the average is very low. I always say that most TKD schools teach innefective fighting, but that is why I cross train, but I still can't seem to give up the TKD. The environment is healthy, I love to see children get involved, the workouts are good, and the sparring classes help my cardio with my BJJ, oh...my flexibility has improved from it as well. But I push myself more than anyone else in my classes, I am there for a reason and am focused, as with everything else. I feel you get what you put into things, if you train and try hard, you will get the results. I once heard someone say that you don't even start learning till you get your blackbelt. -
Ninjutsu and Krav Maga
btroadman replied to lbouchet's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
This is an old thread, but I have to add my two cents. Imi Lichtenfeld is the correct spelling, it was created in 1948, he passed away in 1998. In 1999 Darren Levine created the Krav Maga Worldwide Enterprises to help the Krav Maga Association of America, Inc. expand and promote Krav Maga in the United States and around the world. KM isn't BASED on any MA, but Imi was a boxer so some of the techniques encorporate good punches, but aren't just like a boxer. KM makes round kicks similar to muay thai fighters, but with some differences that any muay thai fighter will point out. The important thing to keep in mind is that KM has ALWAYS been integrated by it's own thought process -- the focus on instinctive movements and simple techniques that are accessible under stress. It has NEVER simply borrowed techniques and stuck them in it's system. Because it is an integrated system, every technique must make sense in relation to every other technique -- the same thought process informs the whole system. Having said that, I will also say that KM has a number of techniques that were not seen by people outside the IDF until their videos came out, including a number of our gun techniques, our knife techniques, and stick defenses. -
TKD bashing?
btroadman replied to NightShade_UK's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I am a TaeKwonDo student and love it. I always look forward to classes and improving my skills. But I can also admit that a lot of the commercialized art of TKD is ineffective. Now people will argue and say that I saw my friend beat up so and so. But if we are using the 'law of equals', the average MA student who only trains in the Americanized TKD would be at a disadvantage to on who trains in BJJ, Muay Thai, Pankration, etc. I think that is why the bashing goes on, people make it out to be a UFC fight all the time. If I wanted to enter the UFC or Pride Fighting championships, I wouldn't train in TaeKwonDo, nor would I have a real job, and my ears would look like Califlowers. -
Like I said before, breaking a board with the grain is something any kid could do. A lot of TKD schools train people to pull back their kicks and use restraint, so pulling out a rebreakable board once in a while wouldn't be bad to make sure they are kicking through when they need to.

Top 10 Self Defense Martial Arts
btroadman replied to aznkarateboi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Of course Cross Training is the way to go. And of course there is no such thing as an "ultimate style". With the "Phases of Combat" theory there are 3 principal phases in any fight, whether it is MMA or on the Street. 1. Free-Movement Phase, 2. Standing Clinch, and 3. Ground Combat. Some fights start in the Free-movement phase, most in the standing clinch, and almost all end up in ground combat. If you have a skilled grappler no matter how good your clinch or free-movement phase are, it will end up on the ground. If you don't have ground combat skills then you are toast. If you don't believe that you need to reckognize where the UFC and Pride has come from, almost all the heavy hitters have ground combat experience now. Because it is needed. -

But if all things are equal, there are definitely MA's that dominate others. Don't you think? -
Top 10 Self Defense Martial Arts
btroadman replied to aznkarateboi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
After reading 10 pages of posts on this thread I have to add my few cents in. I take BJJ, Krav Maga, and TaeKwonDo. I LOVE TKD, but am the first person to admit that in a fight it is for the most part ineffective. I can't put together a complete top 10 list, but would have to say that Brazilian JiuJitsu, Krav Maga, and Muay Thai are definitely on the tops of a list for self defense. -
Christians and the Martial Arts
btroadman replied to kchenault's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I just need to make a simple point. A Christian believes in Jesus and believes that he died on the cross for our sins. If a eastern religion doesn't believe that, then there is no comparison.
