  1. It seems if you were sparring with the sensei it would be okay for him to inflict some pain, but not to serious injury. If your in martial arts you should be able to take some pain if you want to be able to protect yourself in a real situation.
  2. Situps and ab exercises don't get you cut. You can exercise for 23 hours a day and stay flabby. It's all in what you eat, focus on your diet and a good workout will help, but diet is #1!
  3. Why don't you do them and see how it feels, there's no formula for everyone.
  4. Just curious here, but when you guys doing pushups over 100 are you touching your chest to the floor each time? Or is it more of the 90 degree angle at the elbow bouncing style? I see some record breakers just dropping from the top and catching themselves at the bottom.
  5. LOL One I saw was between 2 guys, probably 21. We were in a pizza place that served beer so they were drunk. It started by one guying coughing to close to the other... I guess. Well they started yelling. One guy goes for a head lock but the other guy slips out of it, now here's the funny part... They starting taking turns hitting eachother to the face. One guy did a western wind up swing, then the other guy did his, they did that for about 10 seconds maybe about 5 hits each. So one guy gets alitte smarter and pulls the other guys shirt over his head, then starts hitting him. So at this point the guy with the shirt over his head is bent over hanging on the other guy while getting punched on the top of the head. It would have been awesome if the puncher would have done an uppercut, perfect opening... Oh well, they cussed at each other and walked out.

  7. I think the best style in CRAZY style. If you can fight crazy and like you have nothing to live for and nothing to regret. You will mostly always win, and if your really sick, let out a curling cackle when your beating someone to a pulp. I saw a mountain looking man scare off 4 gangsters without touching them. They surrounded him and yelled threats. He just did this insane cackle and put his hand into the knife hand position ( i believe it's called ). Then he put it next to one guys chest and said " You, Heart. " Next he pointed to the next guys neck and said " You, Throat. " Next guy, " You, Eye." And the last guy he just let a cackle off. Like I say, if you want to win but lose sanity, turn crazy and open up a can, also never lose eye contact, strike fear into their hearts!
  8. people with nothing to lose, and nothing to live for. I agree with that, I've known people like this and they are crazy! I'm telling you CRAZY!!! They will do anything, everything, anytime. If you sense they are like this, get the heck outta there double time!!!
  9. A good pair of running shoes and some ninja smoke . Also, learning how to hope fences and scale short walls. You may think I'm joking, but I learned this kind of stuff from my uncle who was an ex-navy seal and took ninjutsu and gymnastics as a kid through his life. It came in handy when you get cornered. Maybe a little off the subject, but I don't train with weights, I do alot of bodyweight stuff, hoping fences, jumping up and grabbing the ladders and pulling myself up as fast as I can. Of course to do the ninja type stuff, you can't be to big and full of muscle, I weigh 175-180 which I think is relativley light. I agree with tree branch, do what must be done. You have to practice what you plan to use before you have to plan it, your techniques should become second nature and reflex actions. If you have to think of what to do, you just lost. Seeing 4 or 5 guys comming at you with bats and knives pretty much takes away your thinking, or so i'm told ( luckily i've never been into something that bad )
  10. I wouldn't recommend using them if you don't practice them. Chokes are my favorite technique, so that's all I try to use. I've never used a choke in a real street fight, but I mean in full contact sparring I can intercept for example a right hook and pull the arm forward more so I can get behind them for a choke then kick out their feet and lay on top of them, that's what I try to do... but it doesn't always work =( I know some bouncers who have used them, but against drunks.. so whatever, if your good at em you can use em'

I was taught by Del Saito for awhile http://www.tkomartialarts.com/index.php?cid=17
  12. Mine told me that too, it starts off white till the sweat turns it yellow, then the dirt mixes and goes orange, and so on, not sure how ya get green, but the black is from all the dirt and whatever else is on there... The local TDK instructor told me he could take the money upfront needed to become a black belt... I was watching the black belt class he taught... Woah that was sad, most couldn't kick head height, let alone hit something up there. The instructor was good though, he just can't teach...
  13. I agree, good chokes will take you out in less that ten seconds. And if you can cinch them in super tight, are almost impossible to escape in that amount of time. Plus the fact that your losing each second. I'm think they can as low as 5 seconds though. From things I've read and what my sensei told me, especially while fighting, the brain needs the extra flow to function fast during a fight, and when it gets cut off you go quick. In a match of mine ( judo ) I was getting choked and got tunnel vision until I realized I better get out, so I thrashed forward then threw my head back and... broke the guys nose, he let go but I was disqualified. Usually you can tell if they're out when they start doing the chicken, ya know they start flopping around. I like chokes because people don't know they need to give up then all of a sudden lights out. Good sneak attack, that happened to me in an early match, I was getting choked but didn't know it then I just went to sleep. Woke up in a fog about a minute later...
  14. I've posted this link before http://www.loompanics.com/Articles/SportingLife.html But I think it describes a black belt well.
