White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I live in a medium sized town with a population of about 35,000 people (:
  2. I've only been lifting for about a year, had to take a 2 month break because of a back injury. (I've learned to use a belt since I'd say I have decent endurance, normally when I lift, I lift with medium weight, high rep movements. I used to lift with high weight, low rep, but I found that it's easy to head to injury that way. I've just got into the habit of doing cardio. I try to run at least 3 times a week. Yeah, I have to give some older people at my dojang credit too, I have two that are a ways older than me but can run a mile continuous without stopping....I went jogging with them once where they'd done this, I made it half way and was about dead when I stopped, this inspired me to get back into shape (:
  3. Unfortunatly there isn't a Muay Thai school here any more, all we have now is Cardio Kick boxing.
  4. I'd like to take Wing Chun someday, but I haven't seen many schools that teach it The only kung fu schools that I've seen that there seems to be a great number of are Jeet Kune Do schools, but I don't see how you teach a style that has no style (:
  5. Yeah, I'm still here. Unfortunatly I didn't get to persue prize fighting, because it's very difficult to find a trainer here, and the ones that are here charge outragious prices. Though I did take up Tae Kwon Do again, two weeks ago. I go to a new school, and it's great. I'm not sure if you can really pursue a career in TKD unless you own a school, correct me if I'm wrong. But I do plan to join every tournament I can and try to become the best TKD practioner I can be.
  6. I study TKD because I've always wanted to be a supreme martial artist. In my town, the only thing there is to learn is either boxing or TKD. So I chose TKD. Not to say I don't like TKD, I love it. Though I would prefer a chinese style, such as wing-chun.
  7. I hear that, sindian I'm starting a new training routine tomorrow, which includes conditioning, weight training and cardio. I'm out of shape compared to 4 years ago, I'm fairly young though, 20, so I have plenty of time to get back in to shape, but I want to get into fighting condition ASAP. So many tournaments, so little time.
  8. I believe this is all the forms we cover, aside from Si-Jak form: Chon-Ji Tan-Gun To-San Won-Yo Yul-Go Joong-Gun Toi-Gye Hwa-Rang Choo-Mu Kwang-Gae Poeun Ga-Back
  9. After 4 years, I'm finally back in TKD. It feels nice to be back again. I seem to have a very nice dojang, which focuses on being able to handle yourself in a street situation. Though there seems to be some differences from my old school. Has any one ever heard of UTA, that's the affilation my school has. Very odd, the first form is si-jak form, which is different from the usual chon-ji form. Anyone familure with this? Anyways, it's great to be back. Cheers!
  10. Kirves : If I could afford a trainer right now, I would, but until I do, I want to condition myself and get as fit as possible, so when I do get a trainer, I can waste less time on fitness, and more on skill. Tibby : You're exactly right, I want to be a great Prize Fighter, or Boxer. I don't know anything about warping, I tried to search around for it, but didn't come up with anything. Could you elaborate on what warping is exactly? As far as my weight program is, I'm kinda experimenting at the moment, I don't have a sound program just yet, I just do some basic excercises, such as bench press, incline press, squats, curls, hammer curls, and reverse curls. I lift with low weight, high reps, and with explosive force. I hear doing otherwise could make your muscles stiff and slow. ------------ I want to have a full workout routine dedicated to boxing. I've browsed through Evander Holyfield's training schedule, would any of this be benifitial to me in regards to following it to a T? http://www.sportsci.org/news/news9709/hatfield.html
  11. I'm going to get a trainer as soon as I can afford one, which should be within the next month or two. But in the mean time, I want to use this time to condition myself as much as I can so I'll have a head start when I start training. I want to be a pro boxer, but I feel I may be starting too late to get into the big leagues, so to speak. I'm 20 years old, but it's been a child hood dream to be a great fighter. So I'll do WHATEVER it takes to get where I need to be. If I have to run 5 miles, do 300 crunches, and lift weights daily, I'll do it. Whatever I have to do to be great. This weekend I'm buying a punching bag, some gloves, and a decent jump rope. I have some hand wraps, so I should be okay. Any advice more advice you could give me that could put me on the road to success would be very appreciated. Thanks again!
  12. I'm interested in starting a career in Boxing. I was curious as to what excercises I need to do to condition myself for Boxing. Thanks in advance!
  13. Hello I managed to find these boards on complete accident, lucky me! This is a very awsome forum, the wealth of information is very astounding! Everyone seems to be very nice and helpful. I come from South Georgia, I currently study Tae Kwon Do, and have been practicing it on and off for the past 5 years, I hope to obtain my Black Belt by the end of the year. I also have interest in Muai Thai and Wing Chun Kung Fu, though unfortunatly the only art I can study in my town is either Tae Kwon Do, Tang So Doo, or Karate. I'm currently a Student, studying Microcomputer Technology, and I run a web hosting company. My Hobbies include computers, martial arts, and fitness. If there is anything else you want to know, please, feel free to ask, thanks
