  1. a guy a my school got "Tong Moo Do" (our school) written in Korean on his leg after he received his Black Belt. It was by choice though, not required. actually, I think he wsa the first to do it.
  2. http://www.tongmoodo.com It needs some updating in the info section and the forum is for our students only, but you get the idea...
  3. I remember the OLD He-Man and She-Ra. Heck I even had the toys. I'm 25 now and the show came out when I was 6 or 7. You can download old episodes. Orko rawked! I like watching Clone High and the Simpsons now[/color]
  4. both my and my bf are martial artists and we love the fact that we can train together and not worry about "hurting" each other. We've been together a year and a half and we have never fought over anything. I say it's because of two reasons: we don't like to argue and we spar often together so that takes out a lot of tension. Ha ha ha. A friend of mine said there's nothing more sexy than a confident woman.
  5. mine was created my my friend and fellow martial artist who created the online comic "True Nuff" http://www.truenuff.com
  6. Thanks for the welcomes! I really like reading the posts here. Lots of informative goodness in this here forum. Lots of love too.
  7. hey, locals! I live in Richmond and I know there is a Pankration school. I met someone at Tiger Balm who was from there. I think it's called Richmond Pankration. I'll see if I can dig up more info for you. Creative Fighters Guild in Richmond is a good place to learn jiu-hitsu, Pankration and Street Fighting. A friend of mine (who used to train with my school) teaches there. He wanted to learn somthing different after getting his black belt in Tong Moo Do. There's also on in Port Moody, but that's a little far Gibson Kickboxing and Pankration -- http://www.gibsonpankration.com

  9. i got 16/20
  10. A solid front push kick works best for me.
  11. 2 pairs foam nunchuckus, 1 pair metal nunchuckus, 1 pairwood nunchuckus, 1 thin aluminium bo staff, 1 regular wooden bo staff, 1 pair of Sai, 2 wooden swords (handmade), 1 padded sword, 2 escrima sticks and I am buying a pair of Kama blades next week.
  12. British Columbia, CANADA! http://www.budderfly.net/images/CAflag.gif
  13. The best weapon you have is your limbs and body cause you got lots of them. I find handling a weapon restricts you and one tends to forget what to do with the rest of their body when they are holding a knife/gun or whatever. Being open handed means you got your 2 legs, 2 arms, 1 head, 2 knees, 2 elbows, etc. That's 9 weapons right there.
  14. the ABC's of self defense: Avoid potential situations Breathe. Stay Calm. Communicate postively. I know it can be hard to avoid a fight, but I'd rather keep my face intact instead of winning a fight. I use street smarts and commen sense to avoid conflicts and dangerous situations.
  15. At Tong Moo Do we have 2 regular 1 hour classes each week, but we also have open classes 4 times a week. On Saturdays we have our Black Belt Club classes. This season (June-Nov) we are doing BBC classes in the X-treme stuff (crazy kicks & acrobatics for example), Sword techniques (with a padded sword) and Kickboxing. Plus I have the classes I assist teaching and my weekly instructor's meeting in so in total I am at my school 5 days a week during various times.
  16. Ha ha ha, this is great! I'm: Tholé Wepeg Moh Chevette of Halls
  17. dumb is the movie and dumberer is the people who paid to see it
  18. Exactly, if you are using the gi to make your form look and sound better then I think you need to practise your form more.
  19. What did he do?
  20. I met my boyfriend at my school. He joined 5 months before me. We get along great and our relationship just works so well. We've been together for 1 1/2 years and we've never had an argument. We have a lot of respect for each other and the school. Meaning, when we are at Tong Moo Do, we are students, not bf/gf. It is hard though to spar with him. I noticed I go more full out on other people but when I'm with him, my guard goes down a bit. I tried to picture him as someone trying to hurt me, but psychologically I know he won't so that doesn't work.
  21. About 60% of that movie is fiction. Linda Lee (his wife) has a book about the real Bruce Lee. I can;'t remember the name off hand, but I think there is more truth in that book.
  22. My answer would be the same as Monkeygirl's. Our Dojang also exposes all ranks to some weapons. Nunchuckus, Short & Long Staff and Escrima Sticks. Only Black Belts learns swordfighting techniques with the Kendo.
  23. When did TMNT come out? I'm 25 now, but was it really that long ago? *Budderfly starts feeling old*
