White Belt (1/10)

  1. Of course the words "anyone" and "everyone" can never be taken seriously, but Im not trying to prove a scientific experiment, its just a phrase. How accurate is it? Im not sure, but Im pretty confident that it would send at least one common person running in fear.
  2. This sentance by itself is enough to tell me that you don't have realistic data on the effacacy of this item. I don't know how more realistic data can get when I've seen the results after using it, not to mention the person who felt the results. So how does that sentence show that I wouldnt? When the taser is not on its target (the human body for example), it is called a "dry shock" (I believe, regardless of the name) and a small electricity bolt (I don't know what the scientific name for it is) is visible between the 2 prods, and makes a hideous sound. However when placed on a target, no sound is made at all, and no electricity is seen. So yes, Im sure the hideous crackling of the electricity, or whatever you would like to call it, would make someone think twice about messing with you.
  3. Really? I have yet to see one that has the effect. I've seen a man pull, cycle, and fire a handgun with a tazer stuck to his arm and held on. On whom have you experiemnted with this? What happens if, in grabbing it, they push it into contact with you? I have expiremented it on a friend who only wanted $10 to try, and the results were the ones that were stated on the website that I bought it from (3 seconds unconcious). They cannot grab any part of the baton without getting shocked, so they can't push it into you. The sound of the electricity crackling itself is enough to send anyone running in fear.
  4. I have handy a stun baton, about 5 inches long and packs 500,000 volts. Don't need special training to use, and they can't grab it out of my hands because if they touch any part (besides the handle, which my hand is on) the shock still effects them. One second and they are immobilized, and 3 seconds they are unconcious. Real easy non-lethal weapon which leaves no wounds or anything of the sort. Assuming the thief was armed with a firearm, I'd have to resort to hauling * or somehow running all the way to another room and pulling out my shotgun.
  5. Even if you get accidentally tapped on the nuts with a little bit of force, your gonna feel it and its not gonna feel good. Anything above an average-power kick from a common person will send a man to the ground in great pain. I bet a martial artist could front-kick hard enough to break nuts, if thats possible. Unless your balls are made of steel, I wouldn't wish it on anyone to get kicked there.
  6. If there is not probable cause or anything like that, is he allowed to take the cane to search it?
  7. Not alot. 1 balisong 1 sap Pair of brass knuckles Stealth Sword Cane Sword 2 Swords from Vietnam, pretty old and not effective, nice carving though.
  8. Around here, its not exactly in a bad area, but I have been in some close-situations where I wish I had something, just to scare off any attackers. The ones I've seen don't look too different from regular canes, just a little fancier.
  9. Does anybody know the legality of carrying these around in public places? I'm sure its counted as a concealed weapon, but are officers allowed to come over and ask if they can see your cane? Another thing, are there really nice cane swords? Like instead of just hitting a button or twisting it, there is a combination or a pattern to allow the sword to come out? Thanks.
  10. With tactics usually comes good form, which adds power/strength to a kick/punch. If you are a good martial artist, it won't be much of a problem throwing a good punch that can be effective easy. Then again, there are really huge guys who can fight really sloppy yet still win a fight if they connect a wild hit with their brute force.
  11. Any kind of award/ranking structure will motivate the kids. The prementioned T-Shirt idea would be a good one, even unofficial belts.
  12. I feel the same way. I just turned 16, am about 5'11 and only weigh about 125 lb. It looks really pathetic since I'm very scrawny and have very little muscle mass, even though I can bench about 95% of my body weight and curl about 60% of it. I eat all the time, and never gain any weight.
  13. What are everybody's opinions about a blackjack/billy club? I was looking at some swords the other day (I'm a big collector) at a Flea Market and noticed that they also had these weapons for sale. I asked to see them and the guy said if you hit them with one of the blackjack's, that no matter where it hit they would either fall in pain or immobilize the limb temporarily. I'm pretty sure its not a martial arts weapons, but what do you think about it? I also don't know the specifics about it. I know its made of lead, but I don't know how serious it can be. I'm guessing it could easily knock someone out, but could it kill in one hit? Also, what is the legality of this weapon? I live in the U.S. (Maryland to be exact), and I don't know if they are illegal or not.
  14. Its not really hard to learn basic tricks. I read some tutorials (off of the trickstutorial.com site, very good), went outside, put down 2 couch-cushions, and began practicing. In about an hour, I had mastered an Aerial, which I have never tried before. I can almost do a perfect backflip, but will give it a few more days before I take away the cushions. Just practice.
  15. I've only been in 2 streetfights, and Jeet Kune Do has worked both times. By staying calm, and simply using your techniques, you are bound to come out safe against the common schmuck. A straightblast will stop any attack on you.
