  7. Thanks, Bob. That's interesting. I believe that he would have been 26 years old - he'd have turned 27 in November.

  10. Thanks Brenda and Danielle. Glad that you liked it. Yeah, it's funny to think about how long ago it was. Almost 49 years! Searching for the club name on Google brings up only 9 results: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Samurai+Judo+Club+of+New+York%22&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=yzQ&filter=0 They all relate to a man named Ivan Villegas.

  12. Welcome aboard, GrimHydra. Glad to have you.
  13. Hey, This is something that I've been wanting to share with you guys for a while. My grandfather held various professions in his life, but one of those was working at a security guard at Bloomingdale's in New York City. I suspect that this sort of work was one of the reasons he took Judo, in which he reached Brown Belt. He passed away a few years back and one of the things that I received after this was his promotion certificate to 5th Kyu Yellow Belt on June 16, 1960, from The Samurai Judo Club of New York. I thought that some people here may find this certificate interesting and fun to look at, so that's why I've been planning to post it up, but I just haven't had a chance. Anyway, here it is: http://www.karateforums.com/images/temp/pjocert.jpg Thanks, Patrick
  14. I just wanted to bring this back up, as I fear it may have been lost for some in that white text error that we had. Sorry again. Thanks, Patrick
