  1. in 5 animal kungfu we have many forms. But emphasis should be on quality instead of: the more the better. in our ng ying kungfu system it is better to do a few things very well then many things very weak
  2. My form of kungfu is ng ying kungfu this 5 animal system has also a snake fist system in it: in ng ying kungfu as it is taught by patrick van steen the snake system has the following subjects: Snake Fist Forms Snake Fist Qin Na (locks) Snake Fist Selfdefense (partner techniques) Snake Fist Sparring ( fighting with snake style) Snake Qi Qong
  3. Yess Cbuan Fa and Quan Fa is the same Chuan and Quan are the same thing please note: Tai Ji Quan - Tai Chi Chuan - Tai Kit Kuen ( Cantonese ) Kuen is Quan and Chuan i practise Ng Ying Kungfu and Ng Ying Tai Kit Kuen = Cantonese for Wu Xin Tai Chi Chuan.
  4. well even with the set forms you see differences. We for instance in Ng Ying Kungfu practise a short form which is called: Gau Fu Kuen "Nine Tigers". This form.is taught ti many people and even when the order of things are set you see very much diffences, because people grow from.their own roots. See it like writing, or driving a car the ways are the same but individual differences result in different details which is a good thing. So creating an own form.is possible and can work ofcourse
  5. I practise 5 animal kungfu we have the traditional 5 animals, but we do also som how chuen monkey kungfu. Patrick our instructor sometimes demonstrating monkey.moves leaping and flipping with emphasis on monkey elbow stuff
  6. I practise a southern 5 animal kungfu system with patrick van steen people refer to it as Ng Ying Kungfu or also Ng Yin Kungfu. 80 to 90 % of the system is purely based on animals The tiger is teaching claw hand techniques, Leopard half fist techniqies, crane bent hand techniques, snake open hand techniques, dragon finger claw and arm as wing techniques. many Chinese styles have animal skills but also indonesian arts like pencak silat. Some karate styles have tiger techniques and ninjutsu systems also like crane stance or whatever. many traditional arts refer to animals i guess
  7. Soon in juli i am testing for green sash in 5 animal kungfu, ng ying kungfu. The 5 animals are divided in levels: orange sash is tiger, green is: leopard, purple is: crane, brown is snake and black is dragon and combining of techniques and forms. now is the leopard level my exam
  8. Well i practise 5 Animal Kungfu and the teacher is very open minded. He encourages us to also look and train elsewhere for other skills, like bjj groundwork or whatever. Do you considder that also a cult form? Or whats your opinion?
  9. We practise 5 Animal Qi Qong within the Ng Ying Kungfu system. Our teacher Patrick van Steen often says that everything is energy. Qi Qong is not mandatory for people to practise. With living healthy and exercising enough sports or whatever, the channels for chi flow open in a natural way. We do practise Chi Kung for a good focus, relaxation and to open up the channels for the chi more.
  10. Hello i am Keith from Holland. I practised Wado Karate back in the days under Harold Rijst and left the martial arts for several years due to a lack of discipline. I re discovered martial arts at a Ng Ying Kungfu school which means 5 animal kungfu. I train currently under master Long Feng aka Patrick van Steen at his ng ying kungfu academy in Apeldoorn the Netherlands.I train 1 time a week at the school.and i also do cycling and swimming on a recreational level. I am looking for good topics and discussions with highest respect for eachother.
