  1. MMA - uh, I’d hope it was telegraphed enough for me to set my guard to deflect or absorb it. From there so much would depend on the opponent’s size and strength. If it seemed like a fair/ish fight of someone with similar training, I’d probably teep to get distance control, or try and jump right to Muay Thaii clinch. Whichever one seemed the safer bet. BJJ - probably hope to raise my guard to deflect or block again, but this time if I successfully didn’t get KO’d I’d probably go for whichever throw or takedown seemed the highest percentage chance. Since lots of my takedown work basically sucks I’d probably go for a Double leg or maybe a hip toss depending on distance. On the ground I’d go for the back and pull guard if I missed. Kendo - In the words of my senses: “Why don’t you go men (head target) first?” So I’d probably just try and beat his strike to the target by attacking his kote.
  2. My name is Ghesset and I do not 1. Thrust my hands into baskets of rice to toughen my fingers for open handed heart strikes 2. Wear Tapout gear to the mall to scare off any eye contact 3. Know who would win a fight between practitioners of Kenpo or Sōsuishi-ryū
  3. Hey guys, 39/m/NJ, newly training BJJ and MMA. I have a few years of Judo experience at Clyde Worthen's Tech Judo in North Bergen, and as much as I'm enjoying BJJ and MMA, Judo may always be my first love. I've also spent quite a few years of my life in Isshin-ryu, TKD, Miyama Ryu, Yoshitsune/Hakko ryu/Daito ryu. As much as I love the modern method of sparring, rolling, and randori... I often reminisce of the days when the hardest dudes in town were the locals in Isshin ryu/Japanese Jujutsu, etc, and were trying to organize local events, and prove their toughness. The late 80's were a wondrous time for martial arts! I guess I'm an all around martial arts lover.
