  1. Man. I had a great work out last night. My teacher gave me a good realistic creatique of how I was doing. My skill should increase 200% over the next 3 months. His skill just took a phenomenal leap after privately training when Master Chen Qingzhou for 15 days. His sensitivity and skill went way up. This is great because it will only take my skill to a higher level as well. Gotta love those internal martial arts. Marty

  3. ... I may be able to work out something with you. Marty

  6. ...The music can aid in meditation. During meditation, the brain waves slow down to the alpha and theta ranges. Dr. J. Thompson has cd's especailly designed with binurial beats which help entrain the brain to that level. The music is pretty non-thematic which helps you ignore the music and concentrate on the path to your goal of the meditation. Marty
  7. I would never train with a Martialarm utilizing my Wing Chun. There is a specific reason for the way the wooden dummy is designed... specificly for Wing Chun. Marty
  8. Kenneth Chung Leung Sheung Yip Man Chen Qingzhou Victor (Sheng Lung) Fu Fu Yung Hui Fu Chen Sung Carl Dechiara Good luck. Marty
  9. The stances I train in I will use in combat. That was one of the things I really like about the styles I train in... they way we practice is the way we fight. Some of the styles that I had trained in previously I trained one way and sparred a different way. With the styles that I train in there is consistency. I love it. Marty
  10. ...Dr. Jeffrey Thompson's stuff. He has done some music to help your brain attune to the different levels of frequency... delta, theta, alpha,.. I use them quite often myself. Marty
  11. ...an internal martial art from a book isn't good. You need to study from a good instructor who knows what they're doing. Having said that... I am beginning to offer some distance training if you or anyone else is interested. Have a great day. Marty
  12. ... most kung fu styles will refer to the centerline. It contains the body's center of gravity, it divides the left side from the right side, most of the major organs lie on or near the centerline, and it contains the tantien (tanden in japanese) which one cultivates chi (ki) (or internal energy). Wing Chun is unique in that it utilizes the centerline to regularly calibrate the techniques used as well as the structure of it's practitioners fighting position. marty
  13. ExaltedLegend- Come visit us sometime if you live near Wooster. Where are you from. As to the centerline. Of course Karate uses the centerline. It is a fundamental concept of most martial arts systems. However, Karate doesn't utilize the centerline in the same way that Wing Chun does. Have a great day. Marty
  14. ...the centerline in Wing Chun or the centerline in Karate? Marty
  15. ...that it's too difficult to discuss chi/ki online. I would have to work with you in person for you to really understand it. I practice the internal martial arts and have been working on them for some time. I also am Christian (practicing, of course). I do not have a problem with the concept of chi/ki. The christian studying the martial arts does need to be aware of what they believe and what the ma instructor is teaching. Some teachers (who are not Christian) may be teaching practices which are not a part of what a follower of Jesus should be involved in. I have been very fortunate. Have a great day. Marty

  17. what Wing Chun is if you are doing what you said you have done. I did break dancing as a youth and I can tell you that most things are opposite to the theories of Wing Chun. Your martial arts skill must be a joke. Marty
