Yellow Belt

Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. Kyokushinkai is full contact aswell and there are sweeps and throws but i dont think they use the throws much in sparring but more as self defence bunkai. They are allowed to sweep as in tapping the opponents foot with one of theres to off balance or drop the opponent.
  2. i do shukokai karate which was made from shito ryu but i dont really no what other styles look like so i cant compare ......yet.
  3. The school i go to once got me a shrink from some place outta school and they were.......not very useful ahem.
  4. broken my left big toe 5 times. right big toe 2 times. left little toe once. right little toe 2 times. and my most recent and most painful toe breakage was the middle one on my right foot broke the bone right at the base and can barely walk without lots o pain.Gotta learn front kicks properly.
  5. The little ones are hardest. Since they dont seem to have much physical strength usually they often seem to be more relaxed and flowing. Relax be pliable and just flow dont let them get a good solid grip on you by constant movement.
  6. I have quite a bit of trouble finding the nerve for the yonkyo tehnique in jiu jitsu could someone help with like ways to find it or other helpful info?thank you.
  7. Shukokai was created by Chojiro Tani in 1949. It is derived from Shito-Ryu and as such has characteristics of both the Naha-te and Shuri-te schools of Okinawan Karate. The combination of sharp linear movements (from Shuri-te) with the circular breathing techniques (from Naha-te) can be clearly seen in many of the Shukokai kata. This is from my clubs website dunno if it makes sense to anyone.
  8. I do Shukokai karate but im not really sure what other styles look like since I have not really seen any others. We mainly do stand up fighting but my teacher likes to add a bit of sweep and groundwork stuff for the older and more senior people (me wuhu) I dont know if this happens in most schools. He also lets me use any of my muay thai or jujitsu if im careful.Like i said though ive never seen another style so i cant really compare............
  9. Has anyone ever (in there opinion) misused their martial arts in a way that they now think was wrong and could have been easily avoided.
  10. yea i do but i also do shukokai karate and i havnt got to the sparring stage yet in thai boxing.
  11. How do people spar i cant seem to do it.I either do it wrong and get up close and dont stop hitting the opponent with short attacks. If i try to do the project in strike a few times den project out i just cant do it i get hit EVERY time and i cant emphasize every enough. Its getting quite annoying to be sparring with the adults just to get hit every time i try anything please aid me before i start biting.
  12. ahaha i was watching this thing about matrix reloaded and joel silver the producer was sayin how he thought keanu was the best martial artist he had ever met and that he could take on jet li.
  13. in my dojo for karate there are 2 syllabuses one for 13 and below year olds one for anyone above that. When u do the gradings using the 14 and older syllabuses u get graded in the EXACTLY same way as anyone older than that no matter how much older .I have been 14 for all my gradings so far and been tested in the same way as a guy who is the same rank but has done 2 other martial arts and is about 35 no arrogance intended but i hav the same level of ability as him and im just as mature in the lessons (i dont no about outside of them). If i keep going at this rate i am i will hav my blackbelt when im about 16 maybe 17 and so will he but we will be the same level just different ages. And i do also help teach but everyone in our dojo is expected to even if your a white belt u can just pass on some information that u have learned that somone might be overlooking and as u progress through the ranks u can mayb help a bit more and start demonstrating a technique or two.
  14. im weird so i find it really hard to counter so i often end up holding on to my opponents gi at the arms after blocking punches and then kinda kneeing them as if in a clinch ,but were allowed anything cept below the belt kicks in our non grading sparring.
