If you want to look toward Leesburg, I can help you! Please tell me more about yourself.

No regrets! I'm just glad that I am able to play!

The martial arts provides physical and emotional balance. Achieving this balance is likened to a runner's high. This balance allows you to make smarter choices in your everyday living. Choices that may prevent you from being in a situation where physical harm may occur, this is the short answer.

Englon is correct! "9th is the highest. There is a 10th dan (kukkiwon) that is given by special recomendation only and not that common."

What do I say when given a compliment?
Mr. Hall replied to senna_trem's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Thank-you. My advise to you is keep working hard on advancing your skills and see if the complements follow. Good for you, it's always nice to know you stand on positive ground in the eyes of your peers. -
sickwithit13: "Does it really help your high kicks?" Yes, having flexibility increases accuracy, speed, and allows you to work on technique. Have patience, an injury due to trying to stretch too much too fast may set you back farther than when you started.

Walk away.. Fighting gives and answers nothing. Walking away gives both sides time to think about the situation which will hopefully lead to doing what is best. Lazy thinkers fight and the quiet ones get revenge.

How long did it take for your black belt
Mr. Hall replied to Topic's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
After training 4 times a week 3 hours a day, I received my first dan in 2.5 years. Speed of achievement was not what I was looking for. I put in the time when I had a lot to give and I am thankful. I was a kid who needed something to do and tae kwon do was it. Now I am a W.T.F. 5th dan, and I love tae kwon do more now than when I started. Tae kwon do has allowed me to travel the world and open my eyes to the many people who practice it, like this forum. Keep kicking everybody! -
I want to "air out" the forum a bit by asking everyone the question, "what has tae kwon do done for you?"

Nice post John G.

I am trying not to be biased, but TKD is your best bet. Keep in mind any martial art you do at some point you will use your hands. Keep in mind what “Drunken Monkey” is saying above. In class if you feel you are not properly using your hands, don’t be afraid to ask questions. In going to a school, make sure the instructor(s) understand your concern.

When did YOU start in Martial Arts?
Mr. Hall replied to KickChick's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I started when I was 12. It's the best thing I have ever done! No regrets. -

point fighting
Mr. Hall replied to Martial Law's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Point fighting involves finding targets and engaging them with control. Some will argue that this type of fighting requires more planning, technique, skill than full contact fighting. If you are the tournament host depending on what you believe is how the tournament will be run. -

Lasting the grading day...
Mr. Hall replied to gillonia's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
If you are in for a long day, bring something that doesn’t need constant refrigeration such as: fruit, fruit bar, pasta, granola, sandwich (ease up on the heavy meats), and etc. Water is your best choice for a beverage. Energy drinks are OK, but remember they are also performance boosters. If this is an all day affair, it’s hard to gage when your peek is going to be. If you don’t get this from the fruit bar, bring something sweet. After you spar this will be the “pick me up” that you will need. Always stretch when you are waiting. Bring layered clothing to keep your muscles warm and if you get too warm shed a few layers. Bring music (headphones) to help you kill some time and focus on what you have to do. You are ready, you have trained for this, and you don’t need any outside distractions taking you away from what you have to do. Do your thing, -
How do you train at home (outside of the dojo)
Mr. Hall replied to Practise is the Key's topic in Health and Fitness
Stretch and forms.
