White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. It's been over a decade, but I was a brown belt in Kenpo Karate.
  2. Throw a few fakes. There is one thing you can do, but it may be risky. Basically, throw the same move about two or three times such a jab. Then throw a fake jab, followed by another move such as a punch. I'm not sure if this is the best piece of advice mind you.
  3. I used to train in American Kenpo.
  4. I thought all forms of Karate starts with white belt.
  5. That's great to hear.
  6. I've learned to defend myself. It's been over a decade since I've been in martial arts. While my moves are rusty, they haven't faded. If somebody tries to attack me, I can quickly block the hit and then counterattack. Also, even though it's been over a decade since I was in karate, recently I've been shadow fighting to help me with my anger.
  7. Is Karate a sport you can use to get into shape, or do you need to be in shape to be in karate? Here's why I ask. I used to be in Kenpo from 1999-2001. For two years, I was in a Kenpo school where I eventually got my brown belt. But then for financial reasons, I went to a new Kenpo school. This one did a lot more running and cardio, and holy crap I had trouble keeping up. Because of this and because my skills was rusty, the sensei was thinking I should have started off as an orange belt in his school.
  8. I don't know of this would help, but my problem with sparring was that I had slow reaction time. There are things you can do to increase it. Just look it up online.
