  1. I feel for you, I have had lower back pain for years. 2 slipped discs and I also have sharp pains down the leg as well. Usually the left. The pain can be enough to sometimes put you down to a knee. Anyway what seems to work for me is doing bridges, (laying on your back with knees up and raise your pelvis.) I do a couple sets of 10-15. Also I started to do planking everyday. Usually about a minute maybe twice. Hope this maybe helps you out, it seems to be doing something for me, so I figure maybe it will do the same for you. Good luck.
  2. I am in US and it is Isshin-ryu. I also did wing chun several years ago. I didn't seem to enjoy it that much
  3. Thanks for replies, dr says physical therapy which I do but it doesn't seem to be a permanent fix. It's very aggravating, but I know there must be people out there with similar problems.
  4. To be completely honest I stretch every day. I do have 2 herniated discs and I don't know if the stretching will overcome this. Its very frustrating to feel great and want to start, then I pick up my daughter and bamm, on one knee.
  5. I have lower back issues and it is keeping me from signing a yr contract. It goes out on me often and always unexpected. Does anyone here suffer from lower back issues? I have 2 slipped discs so it's always going to be a problem. Just looking to see if anyone else has this and what you do to cope. Thanks
  6. Still have not joined anywhere. My lower back has a lot of issues and goes out suddenly and now more and more often. This is what is keeping me from signing a year long commitment. Does anyone here have back issues and if so is there any advice on staying healthy? This is a very annoying issue to keep running into. Thanks.
  7. No, they actually don't do any sparring there at all. I have also looked into a krav maga gym nearby. I am really considering giving the isshin ryu a shot over all the other though. Any thoughts?
  8. thanks for the responses. So I found out it is Chun do Kwan. Anyone have any info/experiences with this??
  9. Thanks for the replies, I found another school that offers a 2 week trial for about $20. It's a tkd school so I will give this a try and see how it works out. I enjoy watching tkd which is why I feel I am leaning more in that direction but I also want to be able to defend myself in a bad situation. Judging by the responses it seems that the isshin ryu might be a stronger choice for that but I will try to see from the trial. Thanks.
  10. Hey guys, Im new to the forum and Im curious if I can have some more insight to which style would be most beneficial. I have been looking into a taekwondo school and also another karate school. I like the tkd because of the kicks but is it helpful in the long run? Another school nearby offers Isshin-ryu which I am not too familiar with. Is it more speed than anything? Just looking to see which would be more worth joining because neither is very cheap and I would like to stick with whichever one I choose. THanks in advance.
