I feel for you, I have had lower back pain for years. 2 slipped discs and I also have sharp pains down the leg as well. Usually the left. The pain can be enough to sometimes put you down to a knee. Anyway what seems to work for me is doing bridges, (laying on your back with knees up and raise your pelvis.) I do a couple sets of 10-15. Also I started to do planking everyday. Usually about a minute maybe twice. Hope this maybe helps you out, it seems to be doing something for me, so I figure maybe it will do the same for you. Good luck.
