There's this one sword manufacturer that makes a really great sword. They even have video demonstration on their site that are very incredible. I only had a vague way of describing it, because I Just can't remember the name of the people that made it. All I know is that it either had ab 'Bu' or a 'Tan' or something in it. I know this sounds really bad, but I really want to watch those videos. I'm kind of stuck in that spot where you have to call a radio station and sing a melody of a song for them to play. lol Hopefully you gys can help.

Okay, well, I'm at that point in life where being flabby and fat is really starting have a negative effect on things. I often times get dizzy spells, I cannot run for more than two minutes straight, and there's numerous other defects that are because of my weight. Now, I have a very basic understanding of what I can do to lose weight. The problem is that I not only want to lose weight, but I'd like to lose any excess tissue that may still remain. You know what I'm talking about, right? People losing weight, but then have those flaps of skin where the fat once was? I'm worried about that for two reasons. One, it's very unsightly, and two, one of the objectives I'm trying to reach is better blood flow, and it is my understanding that more tissue is equal to less bloodflow. Basically, I want to get lean. Something someone might refer me to is a guide on how to get ripped, but I need a guide that takes me from being grossly overweight and out-of-shape, to having less tissue, and possibly more muscle mass. So, basically, what type of exercise am I looking into here? Areobics, calisthenics, or what? I'm really not sure at all myself. Thanks for all help.

I went out this morning and just hit my punching bag for about 15 minutes. I was really hitting it as hard as I can the whole duration, but I did it off an on for little unmeasured bits of time. Anyway when I came back in, I had these red spots in the webbings of my fingers. My Dad says they are crushed capularys from hitting the bag, basically bruises. Do these cause any sort of health issue? Like, not arthritis or anything, but some direct effect upon the circultory system. I've been hitting it without gloves on, just so I can like condition my hands or something.

It's all about style. Like my style for instance. I'm pretty sure in shotokan your back foot is suposed to poing to the right of you in zenkutsu dachi. In my style both feet are pointed the same way. There is also the debate between hard and soft. Hard could mean using force against force to block. Soft meaning using give to absorb inpact. I can't really name any soft styles besides goju -ryu but goju-ryu is known as a mix of both. That is what go ju means, hard soft.

Woo Hoo I actually know somethign abotu this Actually I watched the "Bruce Lee Story" You shoudl rent it I think it tells a lot about him a lot of people don 't know. From what I got from the movie is that the only chinese martial arts organization type thing didn't want him to teach outsiders a.ka. anyone who isn't chinees kung fu because it is there means of self defense against the enemy, who is anyone who isn't chinese. -
Practice on heavy resistance bags, this is how boxers do it, they have the most powerful punches around.

If you could do another martial art what would it be?

It's a tie between Ki Aikdio and Krav Maga. -
I was looking at the class shedule for my dojo(You can find it by goin to https://www.yakimakarate.com and clicking on classes) and I noticed they seem to only offer one class for all Dan ranks. Does this mean that there will be a mixed class of Dan ranks re-learning the same thign over and over for 4 months as more and more people come in? Because the way my dojo works is that 4 months the class goes up a rank then a new class comes into the previous ranks and completley starts over. If there is only 1 black belt class how are they going to accomidate the 1st dan and the other advanced members. This thing is beginning to smell rather fishy to me.

I don't know which you should do. I know I'm hoping a Krav Maga place opens up soon becaue I've heard some good things about that. I heard somewhere that's the the military uses for hand to hand combat. I'd go with karate though. I've been doin it a month and there is nothing that is really hard on the knees. I think maybe the two cops may have just been teaching incorrectly.

I really dont' know. I asked my sensei if I shoudl go to a make up class to learn the kata becaue I missed a day, she said she's the only one that does it in first year.

No clue. The only thing I have against American Kenpo is that it's states in it's name that it has been changed in some way from the original Kenpo. If it hasn't then the American part isn't really necessary. Unless there is a story behind this someone can share with me to further add to my rather miniscule pit of knowledge.

We have to do point sparring out or dojo. Not to say I don't like it. It's just that I think they should maybe do like 3 points to win a round instead of one. Plus we only fight with left foot forward, which I guess is bad. THat's pretty much it though, except when sparring girls because well I'm a believer of that your not suposed to hit women, so I always hit them weak and get my butt kicked.

They have a piece of string, but they're made of PVC piping.

I don't know enough about either my style, or shotokan to really list a lot of valid pros and cons. Heres what I see(pay no attention to how this list contradicts itself). Shotokan: pros: Lots of people practice it. cons: Man McDojos use this. Shudokan: pros: Not too many people use it. cons: Not too many peole use it. EDIT:: BTW Just to clear it up when I said I don't know enough about my own style because I'm only a white belt. Not because I haven't observed many things about my dojo, not to mention some other dojos in town.

shun pan tan that's what it's called

I notice that with all these mixed martial arts in the atmosphere it's rather easy to criticise one of them, and probably have a negative effect one someone aspiring to do that art. A lot of the art bashing stuff is directed towards arts that aren't grappling. I've heard a lot of bashing thrown at karate. This had a somewhate negative effect on me when I started trainging because I had the though in my head "Well this person said so and so is better" instead of just doing the art and learning as much of it I can. I think all the art bashing here needs to stop. Like completley. I'm not saying hta if someone says "What are the pros and cons of karate" or "muay thai or karate" to just say they're both equally good, but atleast form something other than "muay tahi would kick the crap out of karate" or "muay thai is no match for karate".

Okay thanks. I spose I shoudl try to find paperwork for this football deal.

This weapons is really, really, really, fun. We learned a kata already for it I think it's called nunchucky miso, or somethign smilar sounding. I love doing it I've been able to get it going like really fast too, which is kind of cool. What I'm wondering though is it normal to be training with nunckucku this early? The sensai said that most white betls don't. She also says that if we can do this one adequatley enough by the end of the class she'll teach us a bo kata too.
-
A friend mentioned to me a while back that my dojo only teaches sparrign left foot forward. He said this was really bad. I've noticed that we have been doing that a lot. Do you think maybe they're just waiting to teach at a big of a higher level? Or shoudl I start trying to practice myself right foot forward? Do not say leave the dojo, there is no other one.
-
I didn't mean learned them, a better way to put it is I've memorized what movement comes next. Then again if I had meant that I was done with them and I knew them I would've said I had mastered them. Oh well who cares I just know the movements of them, and I guess I can execute the half of th shun pon ton fairly well.
-
It's 4 months until we get to yellow belt. All the learning times are 4 months then we test.
-
I dont' know the specific name, but that sounds osmewhate similar. They're going to teach us the full thing before we are promoted. It's one of the kata we have to know before we are promoted. Normally we have to do it three times. But we are going to know tree kata. At the end we will be learnign a bo kata.
