  1. Our Master just reached his 3rd degree in Hapkido, so he can now train and promote. Many Hapkido students are local police, so I think that speaks to its real world application.
  2. I've lost nearly 100 pounds in the last 2 year's. What helped me, was weight loss apps. I could see just how bad I was eating... I used My Fitness Pal to trank food and such, snd Noom to track my excercise. I still use Noom, even tho I'm at 175 now.
  3. At my Dojang one can get black in an accelerated program in 3.5 years. Standard is 4 to 4.5. (TSD) I joined the accelerated in May and I should get black in Dec 2016.
  4. I own what I've EARNED and was put on by my instructor. Buying a higher belt seems.... Almost dishonest.
  5. I'd speak to the instructor and others before reporting anything. Get the other side at least.
  6. I recently finished (and really enjoyed) "Living the Martial Way". Not style specific, bit a great read.
  7. I would think your teacher would be offended that a student of theirs earned and deserved a rank that they refused to wear. Master of masters pride. It's yours, wear it, dedicate it to your Master.
  8. Where did you transfer too? Our Dojang is in Bensalem (outside) N E Philly. GREAT place, great instructors. Let me know If you'd like some info.
  9. 45 here. Started a few months back. Testing for my orange belt tonight! Plus, I'm broken. So if I can do it, you can.. This is for a contest to win sparring gear, but it shows what overcame . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wML-vZUKq0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  10. I use my Xbox almost every day. I have 2 of them. I have not turned my PlayStation on in months.
  11. Traditional white dobak. Though in the summer we can wear our uniform pants with a school tee. (but I never have. I wear the whole uniform, always.) The leadership team wears black pants with a pullover style red & black top.
  12. TSD here. White Orange Yellow Green Purple Brown Red Blue Black

    Too old

45 and kinda broken here. Goin for my orange belt next week! Never too old!
  14. there are some young black belt in mt Dojang as well. When I mention this to the assistant instructor when my family was signing up, he rolled his eyes and said... "Not all of these kids earn their belt in this dojang. Some transferred over from another school that closed."
  15. it's never too late. I am 45 years old. I just started a month ago.and not only am I 45, but I am rather broken. I had a terrible car accident in 2009 that left me with 11 pins and screws in my left leg. I was in a motorcycle accident November of last year, broke 3 ribs, punctured a lung and bruised my liver. 20 plus years ago when I was in the Marine Corps I fractured both of my knee caps. A few years after that, I was broadsided by a drunk driver and broke my shoulder. That's not stopping me, nor is age. I look at it this way... I often regret notstarting 10 years ago. 10 years from now, I won't have that regret
