Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. You have proper technique in a move, effectiveness (speed and power) will come with it.
  2. My school does not have a set time requirement. When you're ready, you test. Belt test is every 4months. Style is Tang Soo Do: 10th Gup - White Belt 9th Gup - White Belt w/ Stripe 8th Gup - Orange Belt 7th Gup - Orange Belt w/ Stripe 6th Gup - Green Belt 5th Gup - Green Belt w/ Stripe 4th Gup - Brown Belt 3rd Gup - Brown Belt w/ Stripe 2nd Gup - Red Belt 1st Gup - Red Belt w/ Stripe 1st Dan - Black Belt
  3. I actually fought Carson Gainey. Very good wrestler. Just laid on me for 3 rounds, but still an amazing base. Blocking and dodging punches can go far. I just said I wouldn't hit a female. I'll push to get some space. I've been in two fights with a female, and it's worked out. We just have different opinions.
  4. It is moral reasons, yes. And it is defending myself. Blocking all the punches I can. You just may see it differently than I do. It's just my belief. You don't think it's right, good for you, you knock that crazy chick out haha. And to KUMA. I used to mainly fight in many as an amateur, mainly the EFC in Paducah, KY. As a professional I fought in the IWFL.
  5. It is a lot harder to kill some one with your bare hands than most people think. It's not like the movies. I do not fight anymore. I officially retired in 2012 but haven't fought since 2009, when I enlisted in the Army.
  6. I never said I would stand there. I just wouldn't hit a female. I would dodge the punches the best I could and possibly hold her down when/if given the chance. With my 18yrs of MA experience, with fighting professionally in MMA, lol I know a female can hit hard, therefore I do not underestimate anything a female can do. So I believe the misunderstanding is elsewhere.
  7. Well, first off, I said that the only way I would hit a woman, was if she has a weapon; knife, frying pan. That is really all I said, so I'm confused on how you get a man smaller than me mixed into that. But since you're asking me if a 5'8", 275LB woman and a man smaller than me attacked me with a weapon (bc that's what I was stating in my original post), then no, I wouldn't treat it any differently. If they were unarmed, then clearly I would treat them differently (as I said in my original post). The fat woman has no weapon, I would not hit her while she throws whatever at me. The smaller man has no weapon, I would defend myself properly. That's my moral. I do not hit a woman, unless it threatens my life. Kinda like here in Afghanistan, I don't shoot unless my life or one of my brother's lives are being threatened. Too easy. l Hope that answers your question.
  8. Tang Soo Do, Boxing, Muy Thai, Wrestling, BJJ. Never had to use my MA is a "street fight". Only in MMA.
  9. Just out of curiosity, what's your height and weight JGarner890? 5'5", 165LBS. Why? lol
  10. Hey everyone. On 23 July 2013, I lost 3 bothers in arms + 1 terp to a suicide bomber on a suited up donkey walked in the middle of their formation while on patrol here in Afghanistan, and detonated himself. Along with the 4 KIA, 6 were wounded. 1 is currently in a coma; last I heard he is also on life support and lost both eyes. The others will recover. My platoon was on QRF (Quick Reaction Force) and responded quickly to get out there to help. It definitely was not a pretty sight. So if you would, please take a few moments out of your "busy" days to pray/remember the ones that fight for this great country. Thanks.. KIA: 1LT Russell SGT Smith SPC Nichols James (Terp) WIA: SGT Welch (coma) CPL Ponce SGT Mosley PFC Andrade SPC McGwire SPC Young
  11. The only way I would hit a woman, was if she was attacking me with something deadly, like a knife. That's about it.
  12. Women can fight. You have Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Gina Carano, and thousands of others who are trained to fight. Women fighting men in competition MMA? No, never going to happen. Women sparring men in training for MMA? Yes, happens everyday in the MMA world. I did it when I was training and made it happen when I was coaching. It's good training for the women as well as the men.
  13. That's awesome! I agree, I hope I'm still "kicking" when I'm that age!!! Congrats to her!
  14. World Dang "Tang" Soo Do Union. I'm currently trying to join, but I need my certificates of 1st and 2nd Dan, and currently in Afghanistan so it's not so easy. They allow you to teach your own curriculum in your school. No politics from what I can see either. If you're not a Tang Soo Do practitioner, but you're style is Korean, check out the International Association of Korean Martial Arts. They are the same as the WDU. You're allowed to teach your curriculum and no politics. I'm not sure on the prices of either, but wouldn't hurt to check them out. Hope this helps! TANG SOO!
