Martial Arts is my saviour to life lol. You shouldn't have to spar if you don't want to. Just go your own pace and whenever you're ready to spar, than spar. And I guarantee you, you'll be motivated and have a boost of confidence when that time comes ! Osuuuu

How long do you do Karate for?
shanny_kimura replied to InternetSwag's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree but if you love MA and want to learn as much arts as you can that isn't bad, what interested me most is I wanted to learn where each and every art I train in came from. Who started it, where did it come from, why was it started etc. I train in 10 diff arts but I'm a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu guy. No disrespect to all the other arts but that's what I blended in the most effectively and faster. I still train Kyokushin, & Shotokan, Judo and all the other arts that been in my life and basically saved my life. But knowing more knowledge doesn't hurt. -
Oh I won't teach every student alone !!! Like private lessons. Ill teach in groups. The ppl I train now their are maybe 15 of them ? Give or take. The method is like this. Stretch, warm up all together. Then we use go over 2 techniques in an hour. Whether its a sweep, pass, submissions, transitions, or whatever I will demonstrate with my highest level student then the whole group watches and does it. If they have any questions or concern they ask. That's about it. I think what he's asking is how where will you fit in the time slots for all these classes? Will you be holding four or five adult classes a day in addition to kids' classes? But I'd be doing most of the classes. But not all cuz I'm only human right. I am not doing an adults class/advanced class when I start. I will only determine that after I see the numbers I have. I know not everyone will be satisfied with those hours that's why I'd ask everyone what would be suitable for them. A lot of ppl want me to open up the school because they "like" my style. And the way I teach works, a girl used my techniques when someone tried to rape her. She used some Gracie Jiu-Jitsu techniques I showed her and I was so flattered. So that was a big confidence booster, big confidence booster for the girl that performed those techniques in a self Defense situation also. So proud of her

One of my dreams is to open up my own martial arts school. I am teaching students of all ages but not in a school. Just on my spare time. I currently train in 10 different martial arts. And have a schedule for each and everyone of the students that want to learn. I never train a fighter the same way. But if I open my school it will be strictly same training as everyone else. I was just wondering what advice do you guys have for me ? The schedule is set. I am I'm negotiations for a small building that's perfectly sized that I could rent. Just want to hear your advice and tips. Thanks ! OSSSUUU

top takedowns for bjj
shanny_kimura replied to xo-karate's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Arm drag to Heimlich takedown. Or the simple tomoe nage (hip throw) simple & basic. All depends on what my opponent gives me standing up Cheers ! -

I am going to be turning 21 in June. Trained 6 times a day in several arts between the ages of 3-5. Started GJJ, Kyokushin, & Shotokan when I was 11. I started TKD & Kenpo at 3 lol. My father is a sensei so that helped me quiet a bit. I want to start a school so successful that I wouldn't have to work. Just instruct and manage the school. A lot of the older Sensei's & professors say I have a "gift" they say I was/am so successful because of my work ethic, and how me and martial arts were meant for each other. Getting up at 5am every morning to do Katas & Taeguks & technical training was an everyday thing for me. On weekends I would ditch plans with my friends just to go train lol. I am so passionate about MA. People don't believe all the ranks I have cuz of my age. But when they see 1 hour classes and just watch me. They understand I've earned every colour, every stripe, etc. blood, sweat, & tears were shed every day but it was worth it. I believe you have to work for what you want. No matter how young, old, out of shape you are. -

Good stuff ! I've been in Martial Arts since age three haha. My goal is to open up my own school. It is a work in progress at the moment. That's my dream. I mastered 6 arts and Aikido I am a brown belt but my sensei is battling cancer so if I can't master Yoshinkan Aikido I am more then happy to stay a brown belt under him and not go to another sensei. I also train in Wrestling, Boxing and Muay-Thai. A bit new to Wrestling & Boxing. I was always a traditional art guy lol. -

Yes. 6 years at 4/5 times a day. At a regular school it would be about 10-11 years & nskkc under Sensei Moji. How long have you been doing Martial Arts. -

Goodness, do you even sleep? I see you're a Kyokushin black belt. Who did you study under? Some good Kyokushin karateka in Canada. Yes I do. And Sensei Ivany. He is not with us anymore he is in Hong Kong now he got transferred, he is a school teacher. He made me work extra hard and made me train more so I would get my BB exam quicker. Miss him a lot Not sure if I know of him. Which organization is he with? You are very fortunate to have an instructor so invested in your progress. How long did it take you with his help? Yes. He knew I wanted it bad so he focused on me a Lil more and extra haha. He knew he was leaving 8 months before the date so it became 4 times a week to 6 times a week 2 hour sessions and some classes just me and him if we didn't have a busy day. It took me all together 6 years & 8 months to master it. But those 8 months were hell. Hahaha. Was such an honour for him to work with me instead of all the other talented artists we have. Really was a confidence booster. -
Noo! Don't say that. They will make sure to get you ready before Kumite and the conditioning stuff. Just go your own pace I recommend Kuokushinkai big time !!!
