  1. Welcome to the forums!
  2. Very cool! Thanks for sharing with those of us who had to stay home.
  3. Personally, I have been the recipient of anothers chi and have felt it's presence in the dojo but I have never seen it knock someone out. I have also heard many make great claims about their abilities. Take everything with a grain of salt and make your judgements based on personal experience.
  4. In many traditional schools you are asked to change to "fit", in fact I have never been in one that didn't exect that. But, if the change goes against what you believe and makes you uncomfortable then go elsewhere.
  5. Each school is different but most WTF schools do not allow a full BB grade until the age of 16. Until then you are considered a Junior BB. As far as retaining senority goes that is up to the school itself so you need to ask. Usually it is based on portfolio, time in rank, and age in that order. As already said, 2.5 years is a very short amount of time to receive a BB grading, especially for a child. Physical talent aside, there are other considerations when promoting Black Belts.
  6. I too have a master instructor that does not allow his students to seek training outside of his school. I beleive that it is strictly a cultural thing and not a reflection of "I am the best there is" or some other superior agenda. One really has to look inside their heart & spirit to understand this when they are not of the same culture. It makes the intellectual struggle much harder if we don't. That being said, Drunken Master has given you good advice, however, I sense another issue by your posts. Ask yourself this...Is your Instructor as dedicated to his students as you are to him? Would money control your desire to teach? Do you feel that those you teach are privledged to be taught by you? Martial arts is a personal journey...your journey.
  7. Basic joint locks for submission and control. A few basic throws and chokes. Kicks for disabling. After that knife & gun disarms. Most advanced training is sought out individually.
