They learn Alittle justsu & Boxing,& Not much of anything else. Reality fighters dont do kata/forms. PS Most Reality fighters,Lead with the head when punching,So Someting tells me they need kata.

I Dont want to step on anyones toes,By Asking this ,But do you think reality fighting is a true martial art?& Are they a bunch of undisciplined,Wildswinging, wannabeez trying to make names for themselves? PS No Insult was intended.

That would not be the question I would ask, my question would be what has changed to suddenly make it ineffective? It's like "Oh, we hit the 90's and so suddenly all of traditional martial arts is rendered inneffective." A good TKD school is going to be taught the way General Choi originated the art, and I think you would have a very hard time convincing anyone that the Korean army didn't learn one heck of an effective MA. Nothing has changed to make TKD more effective except for the introduction at some schools to grapling, takedowns, and joint techniques. The only thing that has really changed is that some schools choose to train in a less effective manner. The Mcdojo has hurt the training methods of the art, but they cannot touch the art itself. Penguin, you have here another guy astonished at how many schools "don't follow the pattern." It would seem that no avid supporter of TKD here is the member of a Mcdojo, how very interesting Watson... You'er Avoiding the question,Plz Give me a specific answer,Why tkd is effective. I'm Sure that tampa is doing its part in supporting TKD,But,All do respect,There is more out there than tampa bay. PS & The most popular ,Martial art in the world is shoulin kungfu.

I Have Nothig against tkd,But its not the most popular martial art in the usa.The Most popular marial art in the united sta tes is akia do.Question WHt HAs changed to make tkd more effective?

I Have been a sandan for 5 yrs in isshinryu.PS Getting Promoted is'nt that imporotant.

The Pinan kata, moves are continuis,The heian is one of the most stagnate katas,I've ever seen. PS Thats My Opinion I could be wrong.

IN Isshinryu, If someone were to kick high,There was always a hard hook kick to the groin.

Seiuchinstance/Soto hachiji dachi,Is a low & defensive stance,But would be used against a bigger person.BUt Short natual stances are are not a waste of motion,&Will aid in shifting the body,AT a much faster rate.Natural stances,Which is why it's also good in a self defense situation.

To me,Seisans applications are the most compact,fo any kata/forms that I know, & Thats why seisan is my favorite.

You Havta,Be certified before you can go out on your on & teach.This Might be one of the reasons,Why Some styles are being waters down so much.The White,Green,& Brown belts are introductory,& It is ,Whenyou become, A Blb\k blt That you become,A Student,Not a sensei.

The Bunkai/application,O Everytim u start a bow in a kata,Would be a headbut .

I Remember, my mom would trll me ,How to teach a class,I Guess That's just how moms are.
