  1. We practice all 4 styles listed in my "little section off to the left". I had to do all my basics strikes, some combination strikes, my kata, 3 different one-steps, 3 sparring matches (1 yellow belt, 1 black, 1 orange), grapple, and do .....O-kee-me wa-za (don't know how to spell it) (The art of falling) for Aikido.
  2. I just wanted to tell everyone that I tested yesterday and passed. So, now I am a yellow belt.
  3. I'm just curious how often you guys stretch. Do you have "goal" for your self to keep, such as on a standing ham string stretch being able to put your finger tips on the ground through out your career. Or do you constantly push your self, like instead of finger tips, some day you want to be able to do palms? Perhaps some day be able to do a full split? Or maybe put your legs behind your head? Also, what are some of your favorite stretches?
  4. Tonight my instructors instructor was at our school. And he was telling about who trained him, and who trained his instructor. I found it REALLY interesting to find out my lineage as a student. So, I just thought I would ask all of you what your lineage is, as far as MA goes.
  5. I am just curious as to how much reference material yall keep. Books, DVD's things like that. I know that I have been looking around all over the internet for books and DVD's concerning the styles I am taking, and I was just wondering if having things like that is worth while. What do you guys think? How do you approach these things? Are there any "must haves" for people in MA? Or, are they all just a waste of money?
  6. Hello, I have been looking around on the forums here for a couple of weeks and finally decided to join. A little about me. I am 30 yrs old, recently married (7 months), college student. I have wanted to be in some form of MA all my life and I have finally gotten the chance to live my dream I have been in MA now for only about 5 or so months. I am a white belt. I recently went to my first tournament where I got 3rd place in sparring (out of 8 ). The style that I am learning is a mixed style consisting of Bushido Kai, Tae Kwon Do, Akido, and Brazilian Jujitsu. I have to say, I love it! We train 2 nights a week, but I would go 5 if they were open (only 5 because I don't want to miss church). Not sure what else to tell yall. I guess, if you have any questions ill try to answer them for you.
