White Belt (1/10)

  1. Oh and not to disagree with my first message, I looked back at last medical records and guess that I had NOT had the blood test done for stuff like blood count, platelets and what not so my first post was a little misleading and is now corrected.
  2. Took some time and had some blood work done at the doc's to make sure there are no under lying issues. Will know in a few days. Thanks all for the advice too.
  3. Kid is amazing for his age. Can't wait to see if his dedication and drive keeps going for the years to come.
  4. Only speaking for the adult class at both dojo's I attend. They are both in the family of the United Martial Arts Academy, just different Sensi's. Kosho we work a weeks worth of Kosho, next week we might work Japanese Jiu Jitsu and the week after might be kicking/punching drills and as always forms week. It's a light stretch, working a form/technique then bunkai on what we learned usually with a partner. At my Yoshitsune class we work stretch, run kata/rank material then stand up to ground sparing using those techniques.
  5. So I have been involved with Kosho for years and we also work Japanese Jiu Jitsu. As of a few months ago I started up with a Yoshitsune Combat Jiu Jitsu (Soke Michael DePasquale Jr. system) and the dead arm's are beating the hell outta my forearms when punching in. Any suggestions? I can tell you due to blood test and seeing a doc it's NOT any underlying condition so that's ruled out. Thanks Gang, Poppa
  6. I remember doing Kata's the night before a test to make sure I had them down pack in the kitchen of one of my fellow classmates. We still laugh about it today remembering me having to step over her cat's every now and then during the form.
  7. The list of culture there was beyond amazing. Hanshi Bruce Juchnik Shihan Ryan Chamberland Bill "Superfoot" Wallace Grandmaster Rober Hoe Soke Michael DePasquale Jr Jerome Barber, ED. D. Master Danny Dring Shihan Jason Delucia Guru Bernard Langan Master Terry Dow Soke Rudy Duncan Master Dave Lamattina Master Jesse Dwire Sensei Steve Bonk Sensei Shawn Flanagan Sensei Christina Davidson Sensei Greg Williams Master Leigh Rossi Master Robb Buckland Grandmaster Matt Brown Sifu Sharif Bey Sensei/Guru Peter Freedman And tons of their head students to help.
  8. Same at my Dojo where we study Kosho Shorei Ryu as one of the main disciplines. I have heard it used as a greeting, but not locally.
  9. I have a dojo that I can see from my house that test on a set schedule. It sickens me that if the student is not ready they are able to don their new belt, ready to proudly wear it or not. Had a mom at the dojo my son goes to tell me just today that her sister's little one got a scholarship from school that entitled him to a set number of classes. He went to two in a few week span and upon arriving for the third (Yep 3rd class) he was on the roster for the next test with the rest of the class. When the parent questioned it, the response on why they were testing so soon was this "He is testing with the rest of his class right on schedule." COME ON.
  10. This is my first post, just stumbled onto this board. Wanted to know if anyone else was at the Symposium in New Hampshire, on 3/19/2011 and/or 3/20/2011? I know from my point of view it was freaking amazing. My head is still swimming from meeting and training with the instructors that attended.
