  1. I just think the name was capitalism at its best. They knew they would have an easier time selling tickets with the name Karate Kid. I mean look at the cast Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. You would think that would be enought but they wanted to hedge their bets and sell even more. Nothing wrong with that it is the engine that runs the U.S. so more power to them.
  2. Well they are part of the S.K.I.F. and as far as their events go they are part of the N.Y.T.K.A. I believe from what i have heard in my area that the N.Y.T.K.A. is very good and is comprised of many school so wither it is Kata or Kumite there is a lot of others to judge yourself against. If anyone knows anything about these please let me know?
  3. The new Karate Kid really should have been called Kung Fu Kid it used all Kung Fu moves but still it was very good. I loved it and it is VERY hard to say that when the original 2 were 2 of the greatest movies of all time to me. I don't think it should be a hugh problem for people that they misrepresented what art is being shown. Karate and Kung Fu both need to be pushed in this country again. MMA which is a misrepresentation now is becoming the only thing people care about, and it is no longer MMA since just about everyone does Gracie Jujitsu and Maui Tye Kickboxing.
  4. When i was a child i did Kendo Karate, Then in High School I practiced Jeet Kune do. My Wife did Tae Kwon Do about two years ago and obtained an orange belt. We were looking to get back into Karate and where looking to do Shotokan. Can you guys give me some ideas of what to ask when we are looking at school. We think we found a pretty good one in our area. My wife is looking to get in shape and I am looking to be involved somewhat in Kumite there is a lot of Kumite in my Area of NY so that won't be hard.
