Legal problems due to belt rank?
Davisonsensei replied to joesteph's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well, i have a few things to say bout this issue. One, is how did the courts know that you studied MA? I am an x police officer and can vouch that there is no such thing as having ur hands registered once you become an avid martial artist. This is a myth. And two, wht it comes down to is how bad was the beat down and did it happen on private property or public property. Most states will charge both people with a felony if it happened onprivate property such as bar or resturant etc. Public property is if it happened in the street. If u beat the guy so badly or cause great bodily harm, ur going b the one to pay the doc bills and it also depends on ur passed criminal history. -
Slayer! Or maybe Six Feet Under, Skinlab,or Slipknot.

Iwas a police officer for 10 of those yrs and in Corrections also. ive taught police defensive tactics to hundreds of officers all over the state. Im a family man and have five children. Ive studied several systems of MA but specialize in only A few. I studied Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu, Kodokan Jodo, And Muso Ryu Iaijutsu along with several weapons. I have also studied Shorin ryu matsumora Kenpo Karate and Kodokan Katemi Waza Jutsu. Im not Big on the whole MMA thing...just my preference. What is JKD?
Davisonsensei replied to Mistassailant5's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
JKD means "Way of the intercepting Fist". In my opinion, i believe it to b a concept. I think that everyone that has trained JKD brings something new with them. allows people to learn the concepts and bring their own fighting abilitys together so that it contours with each person. I have to say, Sifu Lee should b the first person to b acedited as the first MMA fighter of or time. -
Karate Movies
Davisonsensei replied to samloseness's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
The Perfect Weapon. Came out in 1991. Starring Jeff Speakman. Kenpo Style. This guy is an amazing man. -
I think its totally appropriete. It is good to cross train between guys and girls, big and small, old and young. That prepares students to not limit a body style when training better yet self defense as we can not choose a body style of an assilant trying to attack. but i will say this, its up to us guys to act with respect when at the dojo. we are all trying to accomplish a goal together, as brothers and sisters.

Ippon Definition is fairly easy to explain. Simply put, it is a flawless throw. A throw with perfect form as if was the best throw in the match.

Cool. I have to of had to choke a few pits out. Before i was a police officer, i was an animal control officer and had numorous incounters with the breed. I snapped a pits neck once while i was choking it out and...snap. Owner was mad.. got real mad when i arrested her:) -
I understand everyones replys because i am open minded. But no matter what anyone says, there is and always will be fear of the unknown.

Concealment. Keep it close to your body as to not let the enemy see u with it. Learn cutting angles and stabbing techniques. Tantojutsu Techniques from a qualified instructor will serfice. Pratice practice practice:)

Ninjato Were Designed for close quarter combat and for easy carry when they were sent to achieve an objective. As they we not a battlefield soldier like the samurai. If you study a sword system, then use your ninjato instead of katana and follow the same curicucim. The best ive found r made by Paul Chen.

Whats your Favorite weapon and Why?
Davisonsensei replied to Traymond's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
My Mind. But if i had to pick a weapon, it would have to be the sword. Its very spiritual to me as well as combat effectiveness. -
Has anyone used two diffrent weapons at once?
Davisonsensei replied to albeaver89's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
I have used shriken while praticing sword kata. It works for me but u def should have experience in throwing shriken before Attempting to do so. Ive been useing shriken for over 20 yrs so it comes natrual to me. It just depends on what feels right to you. -
Ive seen where certain styles of ninjutsu taught how to use both hands in case a right side limb was injured and ninja would switch up thegrip to be able to continue to fight. But as for keeping tradition alive, a traditional grip is right hand over left. I am a lefty but have trained the traditional way until it became natural.

Im not sure of and foam kama that u could use for such an event but i have seen hard foam kama used for light sparring but i dont know if they would stand up to your event. AWMA.com has them and their not much in cost. https://www.centurymma.com, MartialArtsSUPPLIESsHOP.COM is few placesto look. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I agree. There could b a camp in thailand but more than likely its a money thing. There r only a handful of people that can teach legit Ninjutsu. I have a friend that lives in thailand, ill ask him if he knows anything about it and if there is any merit of such school, he will know. ill get back to u on this.

I certainly agree with everyones response. A little of both, offense and defense is needed when first starting out. Learning ukemi or falling techniques along with some basic strikes will keep u balanced. Stick with it
