I will keep you posted, Right now im about 240 maybe more at 5 10", not good at all i need to lose 40 lbs for sure. -
OKay so I woke up around 8:30 pm tonite(monday) after working the night shift, and I went to Wal-Mart purchased a sports timer(got the wrong one :(/ and the new Karate Kid movie, I planned to workout out after the store but that didn't happen so the wife and I watched it, it was her first time and she loved it. After the movie around 11:30 or so I gathered my equipment for the garage and here is my long awaited back into the mix routine. MONDAY 10/12/10 12AM TRAINING 1. Started with my Shaolin Warrior Workout DVD, did about 30 min, kicked my butt had to take several breaks, stances and pushups got me as well as the 100 high knee raises. 2. Did some jabs on the heavy bag (3 sets of 50 each arm) arms were feeling it. 3.Pushups on the bars( 2 sets of 10) REally out of shape on these 4. Side lunges ( 2 sets of 10) kind of supersetted these with the pushups 5. ONly 1 min of Jump rope ( i was horrible and was already getting shaky) 6. Finished with the Stephen Kesting's Yoga For martial arts, did about 20 min worth, poses kicked my butt again.... Confidence and motivation were leaving at this point, because of the disapointment...so All in all finished at 1:10am and I am really out of shape, not good for a 27 year old who just got out of the military. Spent too much time on the computer and now trying to get my skills back. I will post pics up later. Would like to hear your thoughts and tuesday is another day for training. Enjoy!!

The closest school you will probably find for that exotic art will probably be in Cali or Florida, it is a rare style and I would be weary of the teacher(background check) and do research because of the level of difficulty that style possesses, it is certainly not recommended by a beginner with no Martial experience. I too love that style though very awesome to watch.

karate girls with great show
TKDKeller replied to shadowarrior's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I agree, it is not what it is about but it is a part of it and it is modernizing whether we want it to or not. Traditional should always be priority before learning the flash stuff. -

I understand. But I don't stand up for doing that. What do you mean? -
Good XMA school in Central Florida.
TKDKeller replied to tonihowe's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Mike chat is a really good guy in person, I saw him get his 4th Dan In ATA at the world championships back in 2005. If you can do the moves from XMA then you can practically do any martial arts you want, hands down. -
There is much yelling in the sport of XMA for a reason and any martial art practitioner should know this. I would give her at least a 9/10 easy because of the difficulty of the techniques this is supposed to be set to music as preferred by the practitioner it is judged seperately so don't think that this is all she does is a creative form, it is just another event like sparring or board breaking. I used to teach XMA so I know a little about it but they are judged on difficulty of movements and flash and it is supposed to be"non-traditional" as it appeals to the younger audiences who are sucked in by the "cool" factor. I don't know much about karate but the gentlemen did outstanding as well.

I believe Stallone uses the HGH like candy, It can help in aging and also give you more muscle mass and a leaner physique but giving it to kids its probably not the smartest idea, its like giving crack to a lazy person, not smart.

Do my wrists hurt from punching properly???
TKDKeller replied to GeoGiant's topic in Health and Fitness
You should always punch an object, like a board with your first two knuckles but there are ways to build your knuckles, try knuckle pushups/punching a phone book, you can also duck tape the phone book to your heavy back and punch it that way as well. -
Dangerous Techniques and Children
TKDKeller replied to Rateh's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I would actually leave that to an advanced class but any technique can be a seriouslly damaging one depending on where it is hit. I would say upper teenager level at the least though or advanced black belts who have mastered the basics. -
I recommend the book Bruce lee's The Art of Expressing The Human Body, has A LOT of training routines and practices and day to day routines that the MAN has done, very helpful and useful. http://www.amazon.com/Art-Expressing-Human-Body/dp/0804831297/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1286778877&sr=8-1

Congrats on making the decision to join the Marines I was going to go that route but chose the Air Force instead, I am now seperated but undergone a lot of good training but you will go through more lol, I recommend doing a lot of pull ups and being able to run 3 miles in under 28mins, unlike our boot camp where there is maybe one or 2 TI's (training instructors) you are going to have about 5 in your face, just do what your supposed to and you'll be great and under the radar as we called it, someone will always do worse!!

You should probably start with hand wraps that boxers use, I used to use them myself But it depends on what bag you are hitting, canvas(which will def. bruise until you devlop callouses) or the wave master types. You want to eventually build a foundation for your hands and wrists and try not to to go full power at first but stand far enough away from the bag so you can work technique because your first and middle finger knuckles are what you should be working on. Here is a great conditioning video. I recommend starting with a phone book first if you can use it or just set it on the floor and hit it for about 10 min, built ur knuckles up, do knuckle pushups as well. youtube has some good hand conditioning excercises, remember to look for beginner stuff. Hope this helps.

Pinoy, if you only know one forum practice practice practice that form till it is 2nd nature. Here is a good way to not only perfect your kata but it will make learning others much easier. 1. practice your form in its entirety at full speed, then do it again at slower speed about half of its original, do this for 15 minutes. you will feel it. 2. Do your form with only hand techniques(punches blocks and stances) for 5-10min 3. Do your form with only stances and leg techniques( 5-10min) watching your form and technique throughout. 4. Now put it all together and do the whole form you will be surprised at the improvement in your form and technique will be. If your really confident do it blind folded

Its probably not the best idea to carry any weapon on the street especially if your a black belt in a martial arts, that alone will lead to serious jail time, sounds stupid and unfortunate, but we can get into a lot of trouble going against someone with the knowledge we have in a real confrontation unless there are multiple attackers I assum. Any takes on this?
-
Not to knock ATA for I did it for a couple years but there weapon training is very....bad and not practical, they use plastic $10 chucks for competition and practice with a nylon rope, it is certainly for show and not for use as a real weapon by any means, and I agree that you should practice hitting the chucks against an object/tree/bag whatever however you can do that all day but its not like you can carry around chucks as a concealed weapon anyway, so training will just for your knowledge and not really for general use in the streets.
