White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. I agree with the belief that all arts become very similar after you receive your black belt. I just received mine in ITF Tae Kwon Do and I find that this is because you no longer have to master your own particular field. However, you are still programmed with that desire to learn new techniques new forms and new styles of defense and ways of thinking. Therefore you take it upon yourself to seek out new techniques and since no teacher or no style is exactly the same whenever you see another class or group you begin to take what you like from that class and hybridizing it with your own style. It is difficult to grasp, but we all achieve a similar art by achieving our own personal style and since humans are as a rule programmed the same way we tend to make our styles very similar to the other "masters" of their art.
  2. What I've found over my experiences with "nutritionists" are they are full of shit. They hardly ever come out and say whether or not a diet is good or bad, and when they do they do stupid shit (food pyramid anyone?). We know the food pyramid is bullshit, we know that we don't need carbs after a certain part in the day, and we know that the human body does not need carbohydrates in order to live. We cannot live without fats, we cannot live without proteins, but carbohydrates are not necessary. Your body makes ketones to replace them. Why is it that after you eat a ton of "energizing"carbs you feel sluggish and tired? This is because insulin boosts, insulin boosts induces body fat storage, and in this case this is bad. Take a hint from some of the longest living and healthiest races on the planet (hunza, okinawans, etc.) who eat a diet primarily consisting of proteins and healthy fats, and very very little amounts of carbs, they seem to know what they're doing in contrast to the bullshit nutrtionists of obese America telling us that what we're doing is ok, as we keep getting fatter and fatter.
  3. Just so you know, that feeling of tired after eating a lot of starchy foods is not caused by syndrome x. It is common in everyone, and is a common result of eating starchy foods. It is your blood sugar rising and your insulin level rising with it, after this your blood sugar drops and you get very tired (i imagine if you eat them at night, you are very tired the next morning). Don't go thinking your problem is a syndrome you are just like everyone else (physically that is). Carbs for energy my ass.
  4. Don't worry about the cholesterol in eggs, dietary cholesterol does not raise blood cholesterol. You should only have complex carbs, very little simple sugars, and plenty of protein and don't sweat fat. Think of how farmers fatten up their animals, do they feed them a lot of fatty foods? No, they feed them a ton of carbs and grains to fatten them up. Eggs are great protein, contain a ton of b-vitamins and good fats. I usually have 2 eggs in the morning as well and over the summer I lost about 20 pounds preparing for my blackbelt test. Fat does not make you fat. And dietary cholesterol does not raise blood cholesterol.
  5. You guys are so full of shit!
