^ I know... I mean, if I wanted, I could have got my Shodan 5-6 years ago... But I knew I didnt have the knowledge for it and I have constantly refused my Sensei for the test... Even though I still think I dont have the knowledge for 1. dan, my new Sensei didnt take NO for an answer (he even said he would finance it, if that is the problem 0.o) and has made me go thought the test (we were on seminar in Montenegro, so I really didnt have any choice :/ ). I have passed the test after 8 years of training, but if it was on me, I would still be 1.kyu......

well, in my school, in about a year you can get blue belt, then 6-10 months later till brown, and another year-year and a half for Shodan... that means approximately 3 years for 1. dan...

well, talk to him and your instructor about that... If they both agree he should give it a try, then let him... But if your instructor is against that, then I dont think its a good idea

I just got back from 10-day-seminar in Montenegro and there I have learned two bo katas. Bo Shodan and Bo Yodan. I havent mastered them yet, of course, but I think Im pretty good at them, especially bo shodan Of course, I have bunch of bruises from hitting myself at hips and knees xD

I heard he was in coma, not dead... still, its a shame, he had some great songs...

my fave weapons are bo staff and katana... I have made my own bo staff and have bought a copy of the katana used in the movie The Last Samurai Staff is very practical, it has many uses besides fighting... and I heard that katana is the most perfect sword (even if that is not true, it would still be my #1 blade)

heh I suck at kumite too, but because of fear Ill hurt my opponent... Thats why, even when I see the opening, I usually dont take it, coz Im affraid Ill hurt my opponent... Ill even rather take the hit, than block it, coz I have rather hard blocks... in the training, several friends of mine that have spared with me, complained to me about my blocks... Once, when I tried to block a gyaku zuki from a friend, I did otoshi uke so hard, that she couldnt train for a week! Since then, I avoid kumite as much as I can xD

yeah I know xD well, I need only a general info about hand techniques (on wikipedia, they only have a list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_shotokan_techniques ), for my written test... So, for introduction, I will write generally about them and then about some of them (like Kagi zuki, Mawashi empi, Age-uke....) in more detail... But, I lack that general knowledge -.- I hope you understand what I want to say, sorry for my bad english, its not my native language...

I need some general info about Te Waza (hand techniques).. Can anyone help me?
