UFC strikers and grapplers
boxeador replied to superfighter's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Most of the matches I have seen are mostly grappling. -
Walking is a very good exersize, another benefit of walking over jogging is its alot less stressful on your knees which is a good thing.

Woah... I didn't mean anything offensive there. Yes actually I have done Mauy Thai, im not saying that you shouldn't train when doing Mauy Thai, im saying you can learn it very fast, im not saying you'll be able to beat Mike Tyson after 3 practices, but you do learn it much faster then any other style. Yes if you want to be a champion at Mauy Thai you should train alot, perhaps even more then a person who uses karate. What I meant by fancy was flashy like do quad spinning kicks or something crazy like you see off a movie. Peace

You probably have increased your flexability but haven't noticed because it has taken place over time, just keep working at it and you'll get better.

You can buy ankle weights and kick with them on, but make sure you do it at about 1/4 speed. Also doing your kicks in a pool will help. But the most important thing is... Practice, practice, practice.

I love to double kick, oh the pleasure when they easily block the low kick then a foot gently taps there face and there eyes just light up, ohhhh the pleasure.

Men will be stronger then women most of the time, and will be willing to take greater risks. Men will usally be better when it comes to fighting. Also men can track objects better then women. I grew up always being told to never hit women, I too have an honor code Angus, it really stinks at times, being honest thats one of the worst ones... if I could only lie

I had the same problem with motivation, what helps me is to invision what I want to look like and try to get my blood flowing. Make your exersizes a routine. What I like to do is write down my routine then do each on and check it off it really does help. Maybe next time you want to pick up that bag of chips get an apple or something healthy instead. Goodluck!

Why you chose your martial art
boxeador replied to TheDevilAside's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to do some form of martial art when I was young I did TKD and it was cool, but I had to move so that ended that. Well abouts 8 years later I decided to get back into it, there are only 2 martial arts to learn in my town, shotokan and kickboxing. I wanted to do karate more because I figured a karate person could kick a kickboxers butt, but my dad was friends with the kickboxing instructor and my mom told me the class only had 3 students so I figured I would get into shape for a month then do karate. Well I got in there and was extremely impressed by some of the more experinced students, then I found out they had only been there a year and I was in total awe. To make a long story short I stayed and never regretted it. -

A bullet moves over mach1 600+ mph... -
I'm in the same situation as you. Today I bought some 5 pound ankle weight's and im going to kick with those on, you can also use wrist weights for your punches, use slow kicks only 1/4 speed(a word of caution some people say this will hurt you knees, it will certainlly hurt your knees if you do it at full speed. Another thing you can do is practice your kicking in a pool.

Belt Ranking
boxeador replied to SuperMinh's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Our kickboxing school doesn't have a belt system, although it has only four active students so it doesn't really matter. I kind of like it better without a belt system, although it doesn't matter because our teacher knows us on a name(friend) basis. -
bad things about being a martial artist
boxeador replied to Molson style's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Bad thing about being a MA... certain people just want to fight you Or when they critisize(sp) you, Oh it takes time for you to kick, by then i'll already have hit you in the face ten times. What if I punch? Oh ummmm i'll(insert stupidest thing you can possibly do in a combat situation), or it doesn't matter if you know how to kickbox i'll still win because im (insert word here) Thomas -
It is doing better kickchick I hope in a couple of weeks ill be able to start training again.

Hello everyone, my real name is Thomas. I started doing kickboxing a few months ago, I originally wanted to do Shotokan but I feel in love with kickboxing(not that i hate shotokan its just its alot more money then kickboxing here, but if I get enough money i'll take both classes). I used to do TKD when I was little but then I moved. I am 15 years of age.

Thanks for the replies, ill try to strech more before playing basketball and ill the back strengthining.
-
Hello this is my first post. Anyway a few weeks ago I pulled a muscle in my back playing basketball, I was getting a rebound and arched my back alot to get it, after doing this a muscle in my lower back on my left side began to hurt. My kickboxing instructer told me to take it easy working out and stretching. Anyway I haven't been able to train much lately, and my doctor left town, and I was wondering a few things. First of all how long does it usally take to heal Im 15 years of age. Is there anything I can do for it besides stretch? Will jogging interfer with the jogging process(some people say it might help but I haven't tried yet). Its really bugging me because I can't do anything. Thanks. Thomas P.S. sorry for grammer mistakes.
