  1. Sounds like Emei piercers. Commonly sold in pairs, I believe them to be of Chinese origin, though I've never seen them used.
  2. Thank you all.
  3. My mirror image and I would both drop the weapons and remark on how incredibly good looking we are.
  4. I would think it would depend on the skill of the individual, your throat punch might be better than mine. That said, when Steven Seagal grabs the bad guy by the groin and lifts him off the floor, may not be lethal, but would make you want to die.
  5. The Superfoot. Truly a legend. Carradine, the reason I started. Pai Mei (Bak Mei) Norris, the cover of the first copy of Black Belt magazine I bought with my allowance.
  6. The school I was attending was $65 for Tang Soo Do, $110 for sword or Hapkido. Of course, you had testing fees, uniforms, equipment, etc. I also attended a BJJ school, $80 a month. The training was excellent, but it was a drive for me, and fuel costs ultimately won out there. Overall, between $60 and $80 a month is the range in western Pennsylvania, in my experience.
  7. Saw the Kung Fu TV show as a kid. Mesmerized, I thought it was some kind of magic. A week later, a local dojang put on a demo at our school, and an old guy beat the snot out of his students with a rolled up newspaper. From that point on, I was hooked, and there was no going back. I collected every book and magazine I could find, and mail-ordered weapons I had no clue how to use. My bedroom furniture suffered at my developing nunchaku skills. I do it now because it is a large part of me.
  8. Excellent topic. I think the term has been misused to the point of lunacy. I saw a tennis match where the participants were referred to as "tennis warriors". I think a warrior spirit is one that seeks to conquer fear, to do what is necessary in spite of it, and to simply strive. Conquering the challenges of everyday life may not make you a warrior, but may display "warrior spirit".
  9. I like several roundhouses to the body, and when they get comfortable and confident in blocking those, I double up on the last one. Works most of the time.
  10. Thank you. Excited to be here!
  11. I have never seen the 3 section staff utilized to its fullest potential. Few weapons have as much potential to damage the user as well as the target. Sales of the foam covered ones must eclipse sales of the real ones 10 to 1. But they are fun, in a masochistic sort of way.
  12. New here, just wanted to say hello. I'm a Tang Soo Do stylist, but I'm investigating a variety of arts, and look forward to learning from you all. The site looks great, and should provide a wealth of information.
